I built one last year. Built it as per plan but I wasn't satisfied with the dynamic submerging aspect. So I removed the recommended gel cell battery, constructed ballast tank from sheet plastic and placed it where the battery used to be. Bought a ballast pump from Subtech, rigged a couple of micro switches to a micro servo for pump in/out operation and used NiCd's for the power source. Ballast tank vents through periscope using silicone fuel tubing and pumps the water in/out through rear WTC bulkhead. I have it set up so when ballast tank is full just the conning tower is visible. Also installed micro servo in forward WTC bulkhead for bow planes and a auto leveler for the stern planes (also from Subtech) Sweeeeet. My next project is trying to locate suitable mechanical or electrically controlled air valve to keep water from seeping into ballast tank when ballast pump is off. [:@] Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Good Luck with you Seawolf,

found a US distributor but only sold the german U boat versions...so i ordered a seawolf from endland, should be in 3-5 days, can't wait, thanks for the inspiration, also found a link at another sub forum where a guy from spain used bladder bags in the WTC compartment for static dive...worked great, videos and all, but would not want a leak! i think the idea is good but put the two bags seperate, ahead and behind the WTC, that would be better i think, just wonder if they rear bag would effect the linkages? any comments?

Two trims tanks in this case... well I don't think the rear bag will affect the linkages as long as you keep it in a compartment of some sort, wouldn't want something "growing" bigger and bigger inside your sub!
I think that the idea of bladder bags is also known as the RCABS ballast system, I've heard that they work really well, check out the SubCommittee message boards, I've come across a lot of folks who are satisfied with the results. Can you give me the site that you ordered your sub from?

phillsmodels.com, email [email protected]
hope all goes well, my first on line purchase, and my first attempt at a kit...did lots of review and found some nice sites that detail building by photos...i am going to call tomorrow to make sure all is well, in hind site i should have called first, but i have a good feeling about the web site.
can you tell i'm nervous
shipping was expensive to canada from the UK FedEx insured 50 pounds sterling, almost half of price of kit, oh well, i want it and i think that it will be everything i expect, good luck, and i'll be back
rchobby.co.uk have the same kit and same price, maybe a larger company, but phill answered the email first, and thats how he made the sale
pandanmodelboats.co.uk also

the seawolf is in drydock, safe and sound from England and Phillsmodels by FedEx to Ontario Canada...excellent packing with lots of bubblewrap by Phill, and very fast and curtious service.
i would encourage anyone interested in a Robbe SeaWolf to contact this supplier, Phillsmodels.com in England, tell him Dean referred you...
construction begins tomorrow, i will keep those who are interested posted

no no no....much easier
Just take your knife, and cut exactly where you want it cut away. Juts cut about 1/3 to 1/2 way into the plastic.
Then bend the plastic at the cut, until it snaps in half.
you get a nice clean "cut" and it is very fast
The dremel will make a big mess, and it heats up the plastic.... not good

i got the center mount and motor opening done, now to cut the battery opening in the center of the mount. this is fun, and it's winter, i guy could get to really liking this. thanks again SJN. i made only 4 small slip cuts off of the preformed lines, but no one will see these! i am a perfectionest and i guess that is not practicle for a first timer. (did anybody hear me curse when i did that?) go slow and think clearly! baby steps!

did you find the on line manuel? i hope that the building goes well. i would like to say that the kit is very cool...if i was going to improve the kit i would make the abs parts entirely spliced from the form, and have a small number inscribed on each abs part...the abs forms do break well at the form outline, but the intial attempt to etch along the form ended up with some slips and x-acto knife marks on the parts, no bother they are internal, but being OCD that bugs me a little! why not finish the punch out process at the factory?, you have a cleaner kit, and the number indentification would be a little help, not that you can't complete the kit as is with normal intelligence (at least i think i'm normal, lol). just my thoughts as this is my very first attempt at a kit. PREPARE TO DIVE, PREPARE TO DIVE.

so i have the idea of making the Seawolf RCABS for static dive, but there is no place above the WTC for the airbag.
maybe i could make a small false rectangular (or maybe something more streamline) compartment on the top of the ship that would run from the tower to the rear splice might look kinda cool, or what about if i put two airbags, one in the forward flood section one aft,but then how would i open up the model?
those with this model might be able to give me some advice. i could use the water bag system that is housed in the WTC, but i wanted to go RCABS if i could. i already ordered the pump from Art before i thought this out. no problem as it is inexpensive (thanks art!)
