I want to make either a scale 688I, seawolf or trafalgar class, roughly 3-5ft long, now I know sheerline model submarines make a kit, but what else do I need to get hold of
I fly R/C helicopters, so know quite a bit about r/c, but I'm new to subs, and want to get into it, if someone could list the things I will need and a rough price it would be helpful
thanks.

Welcome to the hobby mate!
Well, the first thing you need to know is that: You cannot get a fully build sub kit for less than a hundred dollars!
Imean, with the radio equipment and all.
Maybe these things could be useful:
-3 or 4 channel radio
-Motors, Servos
-paint, supllies.
-glues
-well, all the necessary you need to build an RC craft.
I don't like to discuss about prices so they can vary depending on what you buy, but remember: K.I.S.S : Keep It Simple Stupid!

Usually, kits are furnished with the hull only, along with control surfaces and the prop (if you're lucky). You'll also need the following:
-paint, glue, resins, fibreglass matte, epoxies, fillers
-minimum 4 channel radio (surface frequency) (throttle, dive planes, ballast system, rudder)
-speed controller
-failsafe system (for when, not if you ever lose signal)
-automatic pitch controller (highly recommended)
-battery eliminator / voltage regulator (highly recommended, especially for 12V systems)
I've got some info on my site (www.rc-sub.com), and be sure to check the SubCommittee (www.subcommittee.com).
You can email me at [email protected] if you have any specific questions. I'd be happy to help you out.
