Hello, new to subs! I should have kept my curious butt out of this forum but they have me hooked. Planes, helicopters, why not subs?
Anyway, was looking for more info on the Small World Models Kit Blueback. I know it is probably a bit expensive compared to some others, but like this one a lot! For some reason I like the models that look like LA Class subs, with conning tower planes and long cylindrical hulls, but the model LAs are quite a bit more money.
So, any feedback welcome, tips, comments. Is it a dynamic or static diver? Also, what are cams for? What part of the sub do they control?
Thanks a lot!
Nick

Hi,
I don't own the SWM Blueback but I've aquired some information about it when I first started in the hobby. For a fact, the model has a gas operated ballast tank system thus making it a static diver. It is a compact model of a good beginner size and easy to transport around when you are planning to go around on trips, according to www.rc-submarines.com (the author of the site also owns this boat) , the Blueback also has a sharp turning raius making it a perfect pool runner for those summer runs!

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, the model comes with its ballast tank already assembled, and it's pretty much the same for the rest of the boat, all you need to do is pop in the servos, add a receiver, batteries, fill in the gas and off you go (pretty much no scratchbuilding involved!). I don't remember if you still need to trim the boat before putting her to sea but I'm sure that with so many features already done for you, this take a lot of things off your hands for a start!
Happy sailing and submarining!

Nick . I have a small world models lafayette ,that Dave Manley used to produce and can tell you first hand you will not go wrong with any of of the subs you purchase from small world. Drop in your radio , paint it , and follow the instructions on trimming it out and you are ready to go . By far the easiest sub I have built so far.I bought mine from a guy who didnt have time to finish it up and emailed Dave Manley with a couple of questions .He answered me quickly and was a great help . I highly recommend his products. I havent seen a sub yet that you can go from box to water with as little build time as these subs. I hope this helps you with you doubts. If you have any question feel free to email me and ask.
