I was looking to buy myself a IR Stug on Ebay and noticed that the vendor clearly stated that the IR receiver will have to be purchased separatedly. The tank is supposed to be new in box.

Is this how the IR Heng Long tanks are sold, or is the vendor just trying to squeeze a few bucks?

I believe you do need to buy the receiver separately in most cases.

 Actually , I have several HL IR tanks , Stug , Panther , Jagdpanther , and KV-1 and all came with the reciever . You are better off buying from Phil (Rc tankwars ) or Matotoys or Matomart whichever they are going by now . The recievers come with them .

Everything is supposed to come with the tank, so it can run out of the box. Someone trying to make a few bucks and should be posted as undesirable.[[>:]] Every HL I bought had the radio in it.

They are talking about the IR receiver not the RX, All My tanks from Mato came with an IR sensor.

Dan, I have to agree with Bill on this matter.Both Raidentech and Phil have supplied me with Heng Long tanks (incuding the Stug 3) and they should come with the IR system including the IR "apple".IR ready tanks run $10 USD more than airsoft versions,most probably due to the increased electronics.
And I agree with Bill this vendor is just taking advantage of people who might assume that this is the norm.I`m glad that Mr.Gerula asked before buying.

I cannot say that the guy I'm talking about should be posted as indesirable, he does sell the tanks quite cheaper then other vendors here in Europe, and clearly stated that the receiver is not included. Considering the Matomart price for a IR receiver+shipping, he's still cheaper, but just by a narrow limit.

I wonder what the hell is he doing with the receivers... Or what elese could be going on.

I hear you, but I think Bill was thinking that some one was trying to sell tanks without the radio receiver.

When IR tanks first were released there seemed to be two ways to buy them with and without IR receivers. As Perry mentioned, early on, even Mato had the IR receiver as an extra. Lately though on all new stock the IR receiver is included. SO this Vendor may just have some old stock that came from Heng Long early on. Sounds like all in , he is still cheaper then Mato, so I don't see anything sinister going on here, and wouldn't want to blacklist a guy a presenting a different angle to marketing.

I'm not surehis list price ischeaper then Mato, due to the euro being worth 1.33- 1.34USD these days. But for european buyers, who have to factor in the difference in shipping and the custom taxes (if Mato isn't declaring lower values on packages, like Hobby King does) it's quite a different story.

I was thinking about the radio. Phil has installed my DBUs and everything that the system requires. Now I see the reference is the battle unit which for HL isn't compatible with Tammy units. Thanks for clearing that up.

I have bought several IR ready tanks from Mato and not a single one came with the tower or apple, or whatever you want to call it. Honestly, I bought a couple separately and that's more than enough. I can't run more than one tank at a time.

Guys, I have a question for those who purchased the "aplle/dome" from Matomart: : in 11.90 you get just the dome, or it also incudes the 8 pins connector, the small cable with the 3 pin jack for the dome and so on?

All you get is the sensor no wiring.

My Moto IR tanks one Jag, came with the apple and the Stug did not, I have to look at my Panther and see, its still in the box.
Mato said I have to buy the apple separate, and just plug it in ...but I got one free... HOGAN !!
