How many links do you have in your tracks?
My Panther G (same "running gear") came with 89 linkks.
After positing a question abbout it a few months ago, I go the reply recommending removing one link.
That solved the problem for me. I think the only thing to check if you do that is make sure it isn't too tight.

Thanks Glen,
I had 89 links also. I removed 1 link and ran about 20 minutes on grass and asphalt until the battery ran down. the battery was warm to the touch, but not hot. The tracks are still in line.
Thanks again

I'm glad it worked.
It makes them much more fun to drive when you aren't worried about throwing a track.
Lets you appreciate the good driving qualities of the Panther or Jagpanther.

Just watch they're not too tight, I'm sure that wouldn't be good, you shouldn't have to stretch them.
I am envious of those who can run them on grass; we have to get rid if about 1+ feet of snow, then have things dry up. I cut an area about 40 ft by 120 ft extra short for tank "operations"

Another problem you may have is that the idler is not inline with the road wheels. I had that problem with my Tiger 1. I put an additional washer in between the wheel and hull lined up like a charm and have not had a problem since. Did the same thing with my Jagdpanther. I was putting metal tracks on and checked the alignment added a washer and have not had a problem and it still has nice track sag. Just some thoughts .

I put a straight edge across the wheels all is in line. The tracks move outward on therear most idler, jumping one set of teeth. makes no difference weither it's on grass, sand, or asphalt. Every other wheel runs true except the rear idler.

Harleridr,
Is your idler tight against the ( not so tight it won't move )? Could be that you have some flex in your idler if it's not tight enough. Just some thoughts.

GSP exit 4.... If you join the TA Club or come to Danville I may get a chance to meet you. Did you reach out to the Texas club? As for your tank, I still suspect the idler wheel itself or an errant tooth on the tracks. Inspect the idler for wobble (tracks off and make sure the two halves arn't separating under stress. Spin them also and check for distortion. If nothing else works let me know and I'll loan you a good set try out. Also check the angle and make sure the ilders are screwed in true and straight.

Another thing I noticed on my Jagdpanther suspension is that the arms aren't symmetrical on each side. They point forward on the receiver side of the tank, and point backwards on the commander side of the tank. This probably adds to the commander side detracking more often.

This thing detracks on both sides equally and makes no difference what type of surface it is running on
