I had a good look at RC4WD site and was simply amazed - so many transmissions, wheel, tires etc.
I think making something go faster is much easier than making it go slower. You can always get a faster motor if you are willing to go brushless and lipo.
I really want to see how the transmission you bought will connect up with the rest of your drive train.

Lil update, been working on removing the chrome from the wheels, the chrome plating is really thick on their products, so the bleach didn't quite work, so I went with using heavy duty easy off oven cleaner, works like a charm. Tomorrow night I will work on using the green putty to close the holes and re-drill new ones to match the pattern of the original wheels. Also ordered a 1/35 cargo truck model to measure and enlarge for 1/16. And I was going to use the king hauler cab, but since I am going with the globe liner rails which are shorter then the haulers, the cab will be too big even with the sleeper removed, so I will be scratch building that also. Hope to get some more pics up over the weekend.

I have most of the chrome off the wheels, and I created a template out of cardboard to put on each wheel to create the "half moon" pattern, now with that being said, not sure if I want to go through all the trouble of putty, sanding, and cutting on each wheel or just shoot them with some olive drab and call it a day. If I had more ambition, I no doubt would do it the correct way. I think the lack of motivation is coming from waiting for the 1/35 model to arrive. Once that is here, I can start to measure and begin to build the bed, and cab. So the build is at kind of a stand still.[:@]. Also have to order a TLT axle for the front and some driveshafts yet.

After looking over these wheels, I am contemplating using the (smooth-on) products and casting my own wheels, as I would actually only need to custom make two wheels- one front and one rear and make molds of those to cast the others. Its a thought anyway.

Wade, I didn't see anybody post this tip (and please forgive me if it's something obvious that you already know about). You can make the width of the TLT axle that you're using on the front, by using the inner rim from a set of the rear wheels for it. I've done it several times, and it works well. -Mike

Thanks Mike, Yes I have seen that used. The reason behind wanting to cast the wheels is that, I plan on filling the ten holes on the originals and then reshaping to the 6 hole half moon pattern of the WWII type wheels, and I figured instead of doing all that work on all the wheels, just do the work on one or two and then cast the rest, which might save a lot of time
Or not sweat the details and leave the original wheels the way that they are, and just spray them the olive drab. And the other option I thought of was to make the pattern I'm talking about.... making sort of a "cover" or hubcap that I would then just glue over the top of the originals to give it that WWII look.

Update.....well there really is no update. I know some people were interested, and I still haven't lost sight of this build. I just have not had the time to sit down and commit myself to this build. Soon though. I have a lot of other builds and projects I need to work on, although I did get my 10:1 transmission, which will enable me to make it a 6x6. Anyway I hope to get started again on this sometime soon.
