did you jut cut a hole in styrene the same size as the original (for the turret)
or did you take the roof of the pz and cut out where the turret mounted and put it back into the new upper hull

I cut a new hole in both. Thinking about it cutting out the original turret ring would have been a good idea... hehe.. but by the time I cut the hull in half lengthwise it was too late!
I used a halfround file to get it as close to perfect as I can. It's not 100% perfect right now but adequate for it's job. So yes, now I have styrene sitting ontop of the original PnzIII roof.

Dan, it's still being turned! Currently it lacks any electronics and while the elevation and recoil systems are present they have yet to be made functional & wired up. When I get a Clark board in this hull, then things really start to move.
I did some turret rotation work. As a result of raising the roof height I was having some binding and misalignment in the turret ring. As you can see I ended up using 3 washers to lower the ring gear so that it meshes properly. I also added a third turret ring mount at the rear... the stock Panzer III does not use this mount point but it was in the gear, so it wasn't very difficult to install.

It's not pictured in the photo but I also installed 5 sections of styene "c" channel around the inside of the hull turret opening. They both took care of the side-to-side motion of the turret and make the turret rotate MUCH more smoothly. I smeared on some white grease and the turret spins like a dream. I'll get pics up asap

Well, it runs. Nearing completion, I just need to find a receiver for the Clark board that's scheduled to go into this hull.
Made a quick video showing some functions.

Again, thanks guys. YHR it was both chance and design that the elevation is better. Basically the elevation unit is sitting closer to the back of the gun hence the lever arm is shorter, you get more up and down movement. It lifts directly on the rear of the housing now instead of the small 'arm' that HL gun units have at the back.
Getting a recoil servo on there will be a challenge.. I'm not sure if you can tell but there isn't ANY clearance on the sides of the gun unit to glue a servo like I've done before. I'll think of something....

Well, it's done!! Im proud to say I've completed this build and my Chi Nu is 100% combat ready.
Latest updates include some rough weathering, installing the Clark battle systems for a Tamiya apple, some 'top secret' new IR emitters that I think could hit the space station, and full servo barrel recoil.
Full combat weight is 4.5 pounds. This tank runs like greased lightning and I have a hard time controlling it due to the speed...
Specs:
The only hiccup was a minor programming glitch on my original Panzer III TK-22 that was quickly taken care of my Curtis @ immortal hobbies. The Stug TK-22 installed now has a meaner sounding gun anyway and I rather like it.
Thanks for the input guys
