Tamiya Type 10 Tank
#1
Bought my first r/c tank after losing my flying field & selling off my larger helicopters. 1st job carefully check all parts are present.
No, one wheel bearing is missing, get on to supplier none in Europe & Tamiya will not ship individual parts so have to wait until next container arrives could be months away. What sort of service is this on a model with a RRP of 1p short of £1000?
Bearing 4mm flanged p/n 19415793 also used on the Shermans as MR1 where can I get one please?
Also connection cable p/n 17175141 has on open circuit due to a bad crimp so need a replacement for that too.
Next question; I would like to use my Spektrum DX8 to operate the tank & have seen videos of guys with gun firing etc operated by extra channels & would like tips on how to achieve this. I presume mixing functions is the way but informed advice saves an awful lot of trial & error. Thanks in advance for any feedback & if anyone from Tamiya is reading this you can be sure this is the last of your products I will ever buy.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Were all the part/screw bags sealed when you received the kit? I've built countless tamiya kits and have never come across them
being short on a part, usually the opposite. Look at the AAF tank musuem for parts or the internet for the single bearing.

I second the never been shorted response, but you have been, so that's all that matters.
You can get that bearing easily enough just by measuring the case of the others and matching up. Unfortunately, my sources wouldn't help you in the UK.
Can you solder the bad crimp?
In terms of the Spektrum, you can do a whole host of wild mixes to get any behavior you want. Most guys add a momentary switch to the pot to get a trigger, but if you set one of your aux channels to full (or plus to 125%) mix on elevator, just as you would with flaps, you should be able to trigger the main gun. Tamiya setup is gun elevation on right stick up/down.
The ideal method to me would be to mix the throttle cut to 100% elevator, but the DX6i won't allow it. Yoour Tx might allow mixing with the cut button, since it's both a momentary switch and in a great spot.

Thanks for replying all the bags were stapled but I understand Tamiya use weight as a check & there was 1 extra bearing of another type in the same bag which might have caused the error. I've been searching the internet but hadn't heard of the AAF tank museum so will look for them.

Sometimes Tamiya's parts are common between tanks. Might check with the Leopard II's instructions to see if the part is in one of those part bags. Might be able to get it that way.

Possible solution, remember nothing is inexpensive buying Tamiya parts:
1. Tamiya USA has the Part #19415793 in stock, Bearing 4mm Flanged #56014, "1 bag" of 2 for $9.25 plus $6.00 for UPS and CA Tax.
https://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc...2#.Vq6EGSmrxGE
2. Part #17155141, RC Connection Cable #56037 is out of stock.
3. The issue with Tamiya USA is they will not mail outside of the USA, but if you choose, I can get the part bag and mail it to you, if you PayPal the funds in advance. Probably a 10 to 15 day turnaround.
FYI: I am building the Type 10 and no missing parts, but that is no help to you

No I'm in England & would be happy to PayPal you your expenses if you are willing to post to me. I am a novice on this forum business but I guess you can send private messages so we can exchange information?

Jasons Store in Tokyo had a new cable in my hand within 9 days of asking. Why couldn't Tamiya do that?

Tamiya leaves it to their reatilers/dealers to handle these things for the most part. Same idea as you don't go directly to Dewalt to buy a tool, rather a retailer. Like you just did with Jason's store for tamiya.

Tamiya supplied a very expensive kit with a missing part & a faulty cable and they won't help the retailer & importer to rectify the problem so I had to buy a cable & a good guy on here is supplying the missing part. It's just not right.

Yea, The 1/16 tank division of tamiya is just a drop in the bucket for them so customer service seems to get the same attention in some cases. Who did you get the kit from? They couldn't help or don't carry parts in their inventory hence the container comment?

That's not unusual around here. I know of two hobby shops within 50 miles of me who sell Taigen tanks but do not sell any parts. One of them doesn't even keep a spare Taigen board and transmitter on hand to trouble shoot with if a tank won't start. I've made a few trips to that store with a transmitter and board so I could help the guy out when he's called for help. So, I get my parts and tanks from Erik. As far as Tamiya goes, they won't carry them in their shops. So AAF gets my money.

Well, my Type 10 had a faulty control board so I sent it back to the online retailer and they in turn sent it back to Tamiya for warranty repair purposes.
Tamiya REJECTED the claim and the nice online retailer had to pay for one out of their pocket and send to me.

Wonderland models in Scotland supplied the model but Tamiya will not deal direct with them or any individual in this country. The shop has to go through the importer who says there are none of these tanks or my part in stock in this country or Germany & Tamiya will not make a special shipment we have to wait for their next container to be delivered.

Ouch, that is disappointing. Seems the type 10 is still a bit new for retailers to have spare parts in inventory. Could check with Axels in the future. Doesn't look like they have any spare parts listed yet though as you mentioned.
