Yeah no kidding. One thing I hope to see is better electronics than the older tamiya stuff. If recoil is included i would like to see it fast with slow return. If it dont do that I may just put an Ibu and servo recoil in. I really loath the slow-mo recoil in my tamiya EZ8.

With modern stuff you don't really even want the slow back to battery position. I messed with some graupner speed 280's to replace the tamiya stock motor in the recoil unit to achieve this. Unfortunately the motors I used are no longer made but something like this may do it. Also here's a vid of the aftermarket motor compared to stock. The Panther has the aftermarket.

The panther recoil is faster than the tiger 1. Is that accurate?

I believe the two tanks in the video are a panther and a Panzer 4, not a tiger. The Panzer 4 looks a little slow to me, but I'm not really an expert. To my untrained eye the panther looks pretty good for Speed of both recoil and return.

If you bought Impact's upgraded recoil unit for Tamiya tanks, it comes with a regulator that lets you fine-tune the speed that the barrel returns to position.

Getting back on topic, my HL Abrams(wish it was a Tamiya) has an IBU3 in it, and the IBU3 has full control over all the servo settings so you can set the recoil speed any way you like. If I can't wait for the Tamiya RC Abrams, I will get the Tamiya static model and put an IBU3 in it. I want the RC version much more than I want to kitbash the static model.

The PzIV has the stock tamiya recoil unit and motor, the Panther has the tamiya recoil unit with the upgraded motor. Sorry for side tracking the thread.

Shame.

Here I was hoping for Tamiya to fìnally bring out a Centurion. After all, they had a great 1/24 centurion "in the days". And their Super Sherman, made me (silently) hope for a Merkava or any other IDF-modded tank.

Abrams is só mêh. We're flooded with them. Hobbycraft, Heng Long and other brands have been flogging them forever..

Henglong is the only one correct enough to be worth buying.
I still cannot believe that jn all this time they did not make an M60 such an Iconic tank which is in use in several countries for many years.

Ah, yes. M60. Modding heaven. Vietnam, Israel, several European cold-war variants.. hmmm.. loverly. That I would accept too, but an Abrams?? Ffft.

Thank you all for sharing those left field minority Tamiiya RC Kit opinions, though a Tamiya RC Merkava Kit would be fun to build.

Looking forward to the Tamiya RC Abrams build, that is "if and when" Tamiiya releases the RC Kit. Why?

Any NEW Tamiya RC Kit is a worthy build and clearly the Abrams, today, is most interesting due to the fact that it has a lengthy and proven combat record, when compared to all the current operational "modern" main battle tank fighters including the Leopard 2 (my favorite tank for sure), which has neither.

I have to agree with John, the Cent or Merkava would be awesome but do you guys really think it would be a better seller than an Abrams? I am SUPER stoked to get one and have been waiting for Tamiya to build it. I also would say the Abrams has NOT been "flogged" at all. For years we have had only the crap Hobbyengine and I consider the HL which is only a few years old to be marginal. The Tamiya is a needed addition for sure. I would give blood to see a M60 however....

John that was awesome. Ive seen a few M1s live fire at NTC Irwin but never in mid air, wow.
Yes, I think in all these years with the record and usage world wide the M60 is such a good prototype to produce. I would even take an henglong one. But everybody seems to be stuck in WWII or current modern.

Agree, the M60 would make for a great rc model, though US Cold War Armor seems a hard sell, perhaps.

Cool! I was there too. It was actually the first model contest i'd entered, and I ended up getting a first place trophy for my T55!

You did better than me, though I got a free 1/16 Kübelwagen Display Kit as a participation award. The box art posted on FB today from Tamiya USA.
