I assume you are refering to the bickering between Tamiya and HL owners. I find it amusing as well.
I really just got into this. I bought my first HL Tiger I at the end of January and it has been in pieces ever since. I am really enjoying the rebuild and have been very surprised every time an electrical component actually works when I put it back together. I have been building models for years, but never ones that I can drive around.
I bought a 2nd HL Tiger a few weeks ago and plan on doing it up for a friend. I have a HL Panzer III on the way and am thinking about taking the plunge on a Tamiya Sherman (found it cheap), although I have heard that HL is going to introduce one so I might wait. I have obviously never participated in the tank battles but it seems interesting to me.
I imagine there are more people in Nashville interested in RC Tanks than just us. I could be wrong though. I have not been to Fort Knox yet, but it is on my list.

This is my 2 cents. If everyone thinks Tamiya's Tiger 1 is perfect, think again. I can name a few things wrong with it, and not just the price. I'm building my Tamiya Tiger piece by piece. I will be putting my own guts in it only because I'm not thrilled with the stock components.
I also have an HL Tiger, fixing the little problems here and there, and I love it.
i am curious, what wrong with the tamiya tiger 1?
Long story short, NOTHING IS PERFECT!

Maybe there are a few but I have not seen them or heard of them from the various few hobby stores we have. I refer to the Tamiya group, though I still have numerous Tamiya shaft driven RC cars to this day. Send me a private message with your phone number if you care to. My Heng Long serves as a nice shelf piece but 8 months later, everything still runs perfectly well on it including the smoke function.

If you are a tank enthusiast, you will be in heaven at the Patton museum. I have taken many pictures and posted them here. I will try to find the link for you.

The swing arms are too short (axle spacing), the holes for the swing arms are too small (center of the holes should be inline with the top of the "torsion bar". The small circles in between the swing arm holes. There are more. Like I said, Nobodys perfect!

You hit the nail on the head. Not every one has deep pockets and or,is trying to impress every one.A lot of us just want to have fun and try all we can on a budget.I just found this thread by chance and had just written a somewhat simular thread on new flyer's forum " more bang for your buck ".Not as well writen as your's,but was trying to get the same point across.
