It arrived today! God what a monster. I will take pics this weekend once i can clean it up. It has wood dust and splinters all over it from the shipping crate. I did take it for a run in the snow after work tonight. Snow is NO PROBLEM. The details that are on it are all correct. Some are a little soft but with a little work this tank can be made into one mean and accurate looking machine.

As you can tell in the above pics the colors on the paint were way off. I overlooked the model more fully yesterday and noticed some small cracks in places, with sink marks and high points oin others. They have been filled and sanded. The really fine detailing will have to wait until spring when its warm enough in the garage. For now though it will be getting repainted in the correct nato 3 tone color scheme. I have the vehicle base coated in nato green now. Waiting for time over the weekend to get the other 2 colors on.

Oh, the fun you are going to have with this tank!
Last time I checked, you were converting it to a Leopard 2 PSO. What on earth did you feed it to make it that big? I must get some of that food for my Leopard! [sm=lol.gif]

Im taking it out tomorrow night for its first full time run. I have only given it an acceptance inspection run right now to make sure everything worked as advertised. It was also running on low batteries so i will be getting a feel for its true potential. I cant wait till my airbrush gets here though so i can give it an authentic looking camo job.

Can you take a picture next to a coke can or something so we can get an idea of the size.

One detail i need to get that i cannot find ANYWHERE local is a 1/6 MG-42. This i can repaint to look like its modern counterpart the MG-3 and mount it by the loaders hatch.

Heres an update of the paint work progress. References for the camo were taken off pics of the real vehicle online. Colors used were tha Nato colors by tamiya. They work perfectly even in this scale.

Wow! Cool model. Nice work with the figures. Verio; (www.tankmodel.com) makes a really nice MG34 in 1/6. It's hand made metal and he's probably proud of it, but it looks great. I'm still shopping for an MG for my (little) Tamiya Leopard 2A6. I bought a metal piece, but I'm concerned about it snapping off of the plastic skate ring.

Select Leopard from left menu, then scroll down and you'll see a photo showing a person kneeling next to a fully completed 1/6 Leopard.

5 Grand. With a lifetime warranty too. Anything that breaks from regular use gets replaced for free. Which is a good thing too since i have gone through ALL of my spare track links. Alot of them broke due to either the freezing temps making the aluminum brittle or "voids" in the casting. Other than that its been fun to drive. Im slowly working out the bugs so come summertime it should run reliably and not give me too much hassle. Took it out for a spin today too so keep an eye out later. It was just a spin in the front yard but its the first time in over 2 weeks that i have had it together with the repainting and such i had to do on it.

Well lost the good pics of it outside since that camera took a dump on me. But i do have a new camera AND have found the source of my recurring track snapping issue. A bent AXEL. look for yourself. The bottom of the wheel goes outward and the front face of it goes inward. This is whats causing the twisting and torqing to make the tracks break.

I show the pics and then he sends the parts. This wheel problem could just be a mis alignment though. I ran out of daylight to check it fully. I may be able to loosen the clamp bolt inside the hull and adjust the angle and tow of the arm to get the wheel straight.

Wow! That road wheel axle's bent good. That would sure break the track. Surprised you couldn't hear that road wheel making all kinds of noise running over the track like that. Unless the volume was up on the sound system, that is.
Hope you get it fixed quick. That thing looks like it would be fun to 'weather'!

Well i "adjusted" the wheel, Went over the tracks once more and ensured everything was aligned. Re installed the track, adjusted the tension, and ran it for a good 20 minutes doing all types of turns and starts and stops. Nothing came off. Well nothing outside. I also used this as a chance to adjust the drive chain tension on the motors. i guess i got it a little too tight since as i was driving i heard a POP and one of the links came flying out. Easy fix though. Popped it back together and drove it to the garagefor the night. Ill give it a longer run tomorrow with its upper hull on to give it load. Fingers crossed that nothing bad will happen. Im out of spare links until the new spares get sent to me.
