That thing must have some power to be bending and chewing up metal like that. [X(]

Good to see it's getting worked out.

Well tracks still arent here yet so i started adding the missing details. The first part to be enhanced was the commanders rotary sight. After that i moved on to the rear of the turret. I added the hinges on it and the folding mount for the wire spool. I also detailed up the smoke dischargers. I am currently looking at the tamiya parts to make the chocks for the turret rear. On the hull of the tank i started making the gun cleaning rods and will be making their holding mounts as well and i have refined the backup camera for the driver from the blank block of wood that it came with

Nice work.

The tank is so big, you'll probably clean out the Evergreen and Plastruct warehouses to get the fine details made for it!

That is one big tank! Way out of my league though. Saw a 1/6 scale soviet tank on e-bay. Gas powered and very low starting bids. Search in rc tanks and item # is160097294829. Sorry, I don't know how to post the direct link. Regards, John Z

thanks guys. Detailing this thing is fun. Larger scale means larger detail. In a way its a little more forgiving. As a cheap and easily available 24/7 source of plastic sheet i use different thickness for sale and garage sale signs that you can get at walmart.

That T-72 is decent for a home made but id rather spend the extra cash on having fokke make one for me. His was excellent for a scratchbuild. Also i cannot stand gas powered tanks. the sound doesnt fit.

BUMP Theres some 1/6 interest on the boards so i thought id resurrect this old thread instead of start a new one. The electrics are back. Just have to get the the electrics stre this weekend and buy some connectors and wire. The wires on the ESC arent long enough to properly connect to the batteries. It runs on a 24 V system. So in the mean time i will cover some of the further detail changes i have made to the tank. Pics to come later.

Leo: from the looks of things, the lower hull is GRP, yes? How is the upper hull manufactured? Is this a moulded item or built-up in some way? Just curious. Awesome model though, well done!!

It is molded in GRP as well and some of the smaller details are addd on. Im adding even more. Things like the ice cleat retaining strips, amber directional lights, more detail to the headlights, working spare track retainer, new mirrors.

Default RE: Ultimate Leopard

Heres some details. Im making mine look like an A5 leopard that has been brought up to A6 standard. I have enhanced some details and added alot more. I had to scratchbuild the MG-3 mount on the loader side. Not perfect but it really looks the part. The 2 corner lights on the frnt of the fenders had to be completely sctratchbuilt. They will not light up but will look god once it is fully painted again. Theres alot of strip and styrene rod detail added all over the front. The spare track retainer has 2 working pins on either side. So if i have a track pop during running i can fix it with bits on hand. I will also have 4 end conectors stored on the 2 rear stowage bins and ready useable too. This is a slow going prject but as you can see the details really begin to look good and add to the overall finished look of the model.
