Ultimate Leopard
Got the first pics of my 1/6 Leopard 2A6 today. It just arrived at the workshop for QC checks. Once the checks are done it will be sent on to me in the US. It will have a quick turret turn installed, sound module with speakers, 24V chain driven motor system, and a lifetime warrantee. As long as insane things arent done to it any fixes and regular replacement parts are covered. Will also come with the transmitter. Basically RTR with only a few additions and details required.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
I got it from here, this distributor has the best reputation for service and response to questions to emails.
http://www.mark-1-tank.co.uk/
The main manufacturer is here
http://www.interdacom.ru/~tanks/
and he has a list of distributors on his page. Be forewarned though they arent cheap. Also i dont think the US distributor carries the Leopard on his available list yet BUT he can probably order it all the same. Turnaround is 6 months. For a lifetime warranty it is worth the price though.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
The challenger is ok but does need alot of work. Look what this person has done to get his up to current spec. http://www.tanksandtrolls.co.uk/challenger%202.htm I dont think the leopard will require the same amount of work but it will require some.

I should be getting updates and progress reports from the QC checker soon. He gets he tank in and completely disassembles it then reassembles it to make sure all the bugs and kinks are out of it before it goes on to the customer. Unfortunately it still means i wont see it until the middle/end of january. It has to go from the UK to Utah.

i too am interested in 1/6 tanks and i,m in the early stages of buying.i have a question for you about the one you ordered.why did you go with this brand? i myself would have issue about buying a product ,then having to send it to be dissassembled .are they in that bad of shape from uk that they have to be torn down and rebuilt.it infers that one could buy it from the maker and have a lot of problems, then have to return it to the uk

The tank actually goes to the UK from russia. The distributor in the UK has his own standards that he likes to keep. This sometimes requires a complete disassembly. He also has a lifetime warranty on the tank so if it breaks from NORMAL use it will be fixed for free. Considering my Leopard is the first one out after the prototype model he wants to make sure there are no hidden glitches. This distributor also has an excellent track record and customer service history. If you would like to learn more he has his own forums where questions can be answered more completely. He also has a writeup on his sales site of the kind of QC checks performed. He just wants to be sure that he gives the best product he can. I have seen his tanks in person and i can say that the quality is high and must be seen to be believed. Also like any model its only as good as the effort put into it.
Heres some more pictures he sent me showing the internal arrangement of the batteries and ESC components.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
The Leopard is finished in the UK and will be getting sent to me soon. I have to see what i have to do about package pickup at the airport. Heres some pics of it. Let the DROOLING COMMENCE! Overall the important details are there BUT there are some i want to refine. Fortunately i have been in contact with an individual in Germany who is making a 1/7 Leo out of metal. The parts i want to refine are close enough in size that the scale difference will not be noticeable. Mainly these are the headlight, sidelight and mirrors. There are other smaller refinements that deal more with scribing detail too. Im also going to make masks and stencils for the "charging knight" emblem.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
It was actually my wife who told me to get it. I was showing her videos of a 1/6 challenger 2 after she saw the 1/6 display at Duxford military museum and she said if there were a 1/6 Leopard 2 she wouldnt mind me getting it. She didnt know that this had just become available on the market The next hour i was ordering it.
I cant wait to get it. I ordered it back in august of last year.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
Theonly "off" thing i noticed was the road wheel spacing. But in a limited market beggars cant be choosers. There is NO other 1/6 Leopard2 anywhere.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
Unfortunately i no longer live in the UK So unless you can get to Utah the chances are remote. Im looking to get an RC tank club started here soon. All my tanks are now in transit coming across the atlantic so it is hard to start a club when you have nothing to drive.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
i wasn't trying to offend anyone.i just thought for that much money any errors should be undetectable.it was the front part of the turret that caught my eye.i would'nt have said anything at all if i was'nt considering getting one myself (challenger) either way it's a very nice machine

Dont worry no offense taken. the turret front is actually correct. The camera in the pics puts a slight fisheye on the proportions and even the photographer has admitted to not taking the best pics.

RE: Ultimate Leopard
Ill have to double check with the builder but i believe they come with it. I think he left them off to prevent breakage. Ill send him an email to be sure they got packed. it leaves tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out i didnt even see it.
