BEAUTIFUL! Outstanding Job PoisonPorkChop!
I'm curious, what paints did you use for the camo?
Do you plan to weather your tank?

Thank You Pzigr......well for the paints I first used Tamiya TS-3 Dark Yellow spray, then I used Model Master(Enamel) 1710 Dark Green ,Followed by Model Master(Enamel) 1785 "Rust".... The Model Master "Rust" color is a PERFECT match for the red-brown thats needed. ( i feel the Tamiya red-brown is to dark, and so is the Tamiya green).I spent many hours searching for perfect matches in scale color. The Green and Red-Brown was airbrushed with my new Badger model 150 AirBrush I got for Christmas...It works very well. to Finish it all up I sprayed a couple of coats of Krylon Clear Matte Finish 1311 to dull and protect the paint and decals...I use it on all my kits.

1. End of the rattle can part of the build. Use a mask and spray outside. I used Tamiya Surface Primer, TS-1 Red Brown and TS-2 Dark Green on the hull.

2. Bearing install. The road wheels are painted in a "looks OK to me" mix of dark green and a gray-white.

3. Secret performance weapon (if I get the new pinion gears from Bob and Willy at ETO).

I will post again Friday AM.
Photo Update:

Re-installed tracks in proper direction.

Assembled and installed the road wheels.
Installed the Daryl Turner gearbox mount brace.
Installed and adjusted the Impact Sprockets and Tracks. Used them because of all the cool detail, but the Tamiya parts are "good" in my kit.
If I get pinion gears from ETO, I will install the Graupner 400 Speed Motors.
I am working on the rest of the assembly, but no painting for awhile as I wait out the rainy weather.
Still researching what the finish will be.

Next post Monday PM. John
If you have ever had to replace a broken plastic elevation arm in your Tamiya Tank Turret, well you will already know why these 2 metal parts are important.

The last, simple, mods from stock are preventative maintenance parts.

Replace plastic parts N5 (elevation & traverse arms) with Daryl Turner's metal elevation arms.

Update: Paint prep is minor for this kit:

1. Disassemble the TBU (just 4 screws) and remove by sliding out the electronics; tape over the mirror to keep paint off it; reassemble with the 4 screws and paint.
2. The Tamiya instructions say use 2 stickers to cover the 4 holes on the rear plate if you are using the early exhaust system. Instead, at the white checks, fill the 4 square holes with model putty.
3. Primer paint the top deck.
4. I like to leave the tools off, but painting the tools attached to the tank works to at this scale. Just depends on how good your hand is.

Next post will be the painted tank towards the end of the month or the first part of February.

Just tested the kits recoil function, elevation and traverse and all units work great. The recoil unit looks like a new assembly part and operates smooth.

The whole setup is well designed and goes together perfectly.

And "NO" barrel wobble in my kit.

Hi, email Daryl B. Turner for price and payment info at: [email protected]

You want the Metal Elevation Arm (they are the same part for all the Tamiya WWII tanks).

Regards, John
