Default Cutting with thread

I believe in the FAQ section there was a post about cutting out hatches with thread but the link no longer works. Can anyone elaborate for me how this works and or update the link since it was originally a utube video and seeing is worth a mess of explanation!

Thanks,
John

Basically drill a small hole somewhere it won't be noticed, insert cotton string, start sawing motion around the hatch edge

Wacky is right. The thread gets hot and actually melts the plastic as you saw away. Be ready to break a lot of thread. Once you have the hatch cut, use a small drill bit in a pin vice and drill a hole through the hinges, then insert a sewing pin to create a working hinge.

Cool, sounds simple enough. Often times the best things are just that. Thanks for the reply and quick answer!

You want to use a thread that has either nylon or rayon in it. Go to a fabric store and tell them what you want the thread for, thats what i did and i don't have any breakage, and it cuts alot faster than normal sotton thread.

This is right but if you can drill the hole for the hinge pin first then cut the hatch , this will make it line up perfect.
