I can't believe it's your first RC vehicle. This is my 2nd, which is why I'm converting something. Next project will be a scratch build or adding a robotic arm to a tank chassis. I wish I was as strong as you in the electronics side, but that is a big reason I am doing this. I want to build robots for a living and this seems like a logical place to start while going to school.

I received my metal treads, sprockets and steel gearboxes today and started playing around. Here are before and after pictures of the suspension. The front sprocket is in the best location I can get it with the gearbox attached, but I will space the roadwheels better to get the 6th one in. I know it's *******ized, but I think I can live with it. Any thoughts from you guys?

Hey, it looks great with metal treads! And the PIV sprockets doesn't look weird as I was thinking. I'm sure you'll be able to insert the 6th roadwheel somehow; looking at the picture seems to be enough space. My Bradley is growing too, even I hardly find some free time for spend on it.
All the best,
vamos

Hi Guys!

Great work on the Bradley conversion project.

I just ordered my M2 from Foxhole toys and it should be shipping by now.

I have a few questions thougn about the Bradley.

Are the roadwheels NOT freewheeling/rotating that you had to replace it with the P3 roadwheels?

Why are the sprockets replaced with P3 sprockets?

Are the Bradley tracks NOT workable that you had to use P3 tracks and sprockets?

Thanks guys!

The Bradley tracks, wheels and sprocket are great for the toy, but the tracks are rubberband style. Since I want all metal on this project, I had no choice but to replace the sprocket too. The roadwheels should work, I just have not split them apart yet to get them mounted. I might just leave the PIII wheels for now until I can replace them with the metal ones from Germany. The Bradley and PIII roadwheels are exactly the same size. Hopefully I will get some project time tonight, I really want to get the suspension finished.

Oh alright I understand... I believe the M41A3 Walker Bulldog tracks look similar to the Bradley tracks.. but I guess they are too big.

I'll see if I can use the original tracks to work with the Bradley.

Cheers mates!

Ultrasonic water vaporizer used as "smoke generator". A lot of "smoke"

I have not had 5min to work on this project since I played around with the wheels. Looks like you should be up and running any day now vamos. Looks great. Is that a metal stair traction guard thingy that you used to anchor your swingarms too? That is my next step. I'm trying to figure out how to mount the swingarm springs. I have seriously considered cutting the PIII hull apart and gluing it to the Bradley, but this is too much of a shortcut for me to stomach.

Haha, we're in the same team then. I just have a "brand new" son and the poor Bradley will have to wait.
Yes, I used aluminium stair guard to reinforce the lower hull because around "4kg of tank" was to much for that plastic thing.
I'm happy with the smoke generator: it takes 0,3A@5V and 10ml of water per hour. I added a drop of aromatic oil and this tank will be an "mobile air freshner" )
All the best and keep up the good work,
Vamos

@ Vamos: where can I buy that Ultrasonic Vaporizer? Is that the typical plug-in scent vaporizer for homes?

Please enlighten

@Dongskie:
I don't know where you can buy the vaporizer in your area. I asked mr. google where can buy it in my city
Some time ago in this topic I posted a youtube link with a similar device, please check. I used a thing named "USB Ultrasonic Vaporizer". There are also on the market some bigger vaporizers but I choose this USB version for the low battery drain. A picture with the vaporizer before the extraction of inner circuits:

Congrats on the new baby boy Vamos. The whole reason I started this project was to learn the skills that you have already applied to your Bradley. It's a good way to learn electronics and engineering outside of the classroom. I really need to find some time knock out the suspension. I will be using the all metal PIII roadwheels, shocks and swingarms from Asiatam.

I love the humidifier idea.

You should do a thread on how you built that. I want a few of these.

Not much to say about. Buy the humidifier, take out the magic stuff, discard the original case if is too big, fit the parts in an appropiate container and enjoy the smoke. If you have a specific question and I know the answer I'll be glad to help. My Bradley is pleased with this setup, i let it run almost every day and no complaints yet

Now it has engine sound too. I picked some schematics from the web, tried them, make some mods and adjustments and ended with a very pleasant diesel sound. If someone is interesed I can post the diagram.

I received the custom sprockets; they fit well but I didn't like the finish and the material so I send them to recycle bin and find another guy to make a new pair.

All the best,
Vamos

pcsguy88, you inspired me to do the same project.

Just want to ask, does the Pz III tracks fit? This is my FOV version.

Sorry guys, I've been off the board for months. I've been insanely busy with life and broke on top of it. I just ordered a set of Asiatam swingarms since the Impact ones are not threaded and the crappy HL screws liked to break off in them. If the Asiatam arms work, I will order 2 more sets and only use the arms with the shocks attached. I wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to use the arms without the shocks, but it always came back to cutting that strip off the PIII and gluing it to the Bradley, something I refused to do. I'm going to get my PIII back together again so I can drive her around after such a long time in pieces. Hopefully my finances will change and I can get parts as I need them. I never thought I'd end up investing $300 for just the tracks, swingarms and road wheels. I figure I will do it all metal and do it right the first time. When finished, only the lower hull and parts of turret will be plastic.

Finally got the suspension mounted and I cheated big time. I cut the sides of a Panzer 3 and inserted them to the side of the Bradley hull. Now to make fine adjustments and permanently attach them. Sure would be nice to get more than 1 night every few months to make some head way on this project. I need to lower the upper hull by .5", right about where the roadwheel crushing Airborne is sitting.

I wish I could get the sprocket moved further forward, but the gearbox will not allow it.

Hi pcsguy88

I have been following this build as well Very well done. As for your sound effects circuit, is there any chance you could post your circuit that you built for the engine sound effects? Does the sound speed up as the engine speeds up and then slow down as the engine slows down ?

I would really like to see the schematic circuit design and the mods you said you made to it.

Thanks, George
