I was thinking of purchasing my second tank, a HL Pershing. The only thing I really dont like about it is the cheesy looking ammo crates on the back. Would the aftermarket ammo crates they make for the 88mm look alright for the back of the Pershing? Do they have the metal reinforcing strip inside the hull?

I dont see why you could'nt replace them with the 88's the Pershing had a 90mm main gun I think it would look beter but thats my 2 cents LOL

Ammo of ANY kind in NEVER carried outside. [:@]You have 70 rounds of 90mm in and under the turret....why carry a couple of unpacked crates outside, open to enemy fire? [&:] Grenade boxes and MG ammo cans are the only exception, and they are secured, not just sitting loose. I think HL meant those to be K-rats boxes, but just as in the upside down jerry cans and helmets laying loose on the back deck, totally unrealistic. Best thing is to totally remove all that junk and make it look like a Pershing.

Hey you know what would work, and is cheap? Make some tarps and either tie themdown all rolled up after sanding the ammo crates off. (Trust me we never carried any type of ammo boxes outside the hull. One reason is the 120mm rounds were detonated by electricity, not to mention the obvious hazard. You might find a picture of some tank somewhere with ammo crates on them but I can just about bet they are being used for something else.)
Another little trick you might try is make some tarps to cover the boxes. Let it be a mystery. When someone asks tell them you don't even know.
Thats like what was in the storage bin of a TIGER 1? Curious? Makes you want to research it huh? And for those ofyou who do know what they kept in there, something sparked your curiosity.
Make it fun!!

Yup cover them and add some other stuff around them. Vehicle crews carry everything they can get away with and armoured guys are the worst. Everything and anything to make your life more comfortable.

Here's a couple ideas on stowage and making the Pershing more authentic. The travel lock is on my M-26A1, but the chassis is the same. Turret top stowage is typical for M-26, 46, 45. Note how jerry cans are set...top up and strapped to fender. That way, oil will not leak all over and become a hazard. Camo net and tarps can be easilly made to cover HL makers ideas.
