Hi Thomas
This is a "normal" behaviour on new gears. There are some threads on this forum about how to run in the gears. In the local team here in Denmark, we use WL-40 which is very effective. Others use standard toothpaste when preparing the gears.

I think I read a thread a year ago or so where Harold [Pzrwest] filled the gears with silicone or something to quiet them. I'll see if I can find it...

I don't think running longer helps. I broke mine in good when they were new and have been runing them for a year and they are still loud. I will eventually replace all of mine with steel gears [when Bill gets more in [] ]
