After the obligatory summer hiatus, DAK has scheduled its next event for Saturday, October 10. This is our usual day battle scenario with setup around 9:30, events commencing around 10:30 and a nice barbequed lunch somewhere in the middle. All in the greater Phoenix area and beyond are invited.
check out http://web.mac.com/ethandunsford/DAK...ttlefield.html for all the directions.
This event will feature a few new vehicles and the return of the Allies to prominence! Go green!

Duane - Well played sir!
I think Ethan is just trying to get himself all keyed up. Think about it, whether you heading into a street fight or a mock armor battle, if you know you're gonna get your a _ _ handed to you before you even get there, a nervous stomach is probably to be expected. (LOL)
Why do you think he is so desperately trying to come up with an allied heavy (other than the Pershing), he's gettin tired of being completely dominated by Axis forces.
Ethan - hey buddy breathe easy this will be your last battle without proper support, Doug, Jeff, Chris and I should all have our Shermans done for the December battle! But for now, know that I feel pain in your immediate future - through the sites of my King Tiger (or my Panther or my T1, you choose it! Ha ha)
Duane - Nice Panther pics (Panther Only Picture Thread), I like it, now you just gotta bring the Panther Power to bare!
Whoot whoot, let the trash talkin commence! (LOL)
Get some!

My plans to bring a new Allied heavy tank to the October battle have been canceled due to financial problems. Please ignore anything that I said about Tamiya or their KV tank, for I am not the one who discovered or initially passed judgement on the prior stated idler issue. I would rather not be connected in any way to it, I made a mistake mentioning it when it was not my place to make a public announcement about it on this forum. It was late at night and I was tired and upset when I made my prior post.

I have KV-1 coming in, but its a heng long going to try and have it ready for our battle out here in the 26th! If all goes well it would be cool to take it out to the DAK battle and try it in the desert! I have not seen or heard much on how duraible these tanks are other then the springs but I'll know in a week!

Looks like my prior plans to bring a new Allied heavy tank to the October battle have been canceled. I'm sure Craig and his team mates are breathing a sigh of relief after reading that HaHa! Thought I might be able to attempt to help Ethan out slightly, but things haven't worked out that way.
Recent budgetary issues, along with Tamiya's chosen method of mounting the idler arms to the lower hull of their KV-1, have managed to take the wind out of my sails so to speak. Stock out-of-box Tamiya KVs may very well end up immobilizing themselves on the battlefield without the Axis tanks having to fire a single shot. It may not happen on their first or second battle, but by the end of the season I won't be surprised if you start hearing about stripped out idler arm mounting holes and/or bent and deformed lower hulls in the area where the arms attach. If someone reading this already has a Tamiya KV tank, then you might want to contact Daryl Turner about a possible solution (which he may have sometime in the future) for the lousy engineering work by the so-called premier maker of 1/16 tanks. And of course, the upcoming KV-2 will have the same problem built into it as well..
Even if the budget had been there to get one, I would have had insufficient time or desire (at the moment), to figure out how to fix the tank's idler flaws before October 10th. With that said, I am still curious to know if anyone will be bringing one of these Tamiya KVs to the DAK battle? It might be interesting to hear what one actually sounds like in person..

You sound like someone making excuses. For someone that has never owned, priced, build a 1/16 RC tanks, and only driving some ones loaner one time you are quite the expert.
The KV idler setup is the same as the Tiger 1, Panther, Jadpanther, Pershing, KT and Panzer IV. There are hundreds of them out there with hundred of hours running the stock setup with no problems. To date I have no heard or seen reports of KV idler problems. As far as I am concerned if it ain’t broke: done fix it… Why don’t you get a little bit of building and battle experience before you pass professional judgments.

Heck ... buy it, build it, break it and freakin' fix it. That's the R/C tankers creed.
I'm pinchin' pennies to get that KV-2.

Have a great event and post lots of photos. And this year I switched to the Allied side, but I spent any travel money on tanks (a local hobby shop closed at the start of summer, after 30 years in biz, and they offered me a good Pershing and Sherman deal), so I will only be fighting in my backyard for some time. LOL.

My maintenance crew is hard at work preparing for battle day. We will be there ready to go. Bringing the usual suspects pulse a new work-in-progress to warm Ethan’s heart. Still not betting on the “Green Team” even though I can join the team sometimes. [X(]

We just completed a tx consolidation. We're only going to use a Spektrum each, with one spare. Went from dragging 6 or 7 to each battleday, down to 3. Had to do a bunch of reprogramming and binding. It's amazing what you forget...

We've got them all ready. The new Sherman platoon is active with the M4a3 75w ready to go to Craig's paint booth (I'm going to battle with it in black primer though) after the battle, and the M4A3E8 being 100% battle ready.
All of the Tigers, King Tigers, and Panthers are serviced and ready for battle. I haven't decided which tanks to bring, as the usual prebattle "pick me - pick me" conundrum is currenlty in progress....Such problems...
Panthers got some new batteries (LHS had a sale on 3300s for 20 bucks ea). Got a couple new transmitter cases (Aimee decorated hers, by-the-way). I'd say we're ready to go break some tanks.

I'm ready with two tanks so far, one is my Panther that Craig weathered and the other is a surprise (but let's just say it will be battling Jeff's M4a3 75w and Aimee's M4A3E8). I'm still waiting on a Speed 400 motor for my Tiger to arrive, so it might not be ready. Jeff thanks for reminding me that I need to go to the LHS and get some batteries. I also have a question for you guys.....what is the best way to heat up the pinion so I can put in on my Speed 400 motor when it arrives, I only have an oven and a soldering iron.
