Shenlonco ~ Can you please elaborate on what your recommendations were?
I know what caused the short at the time and it was similar to what Meller described. My difference was I had a weak solder joint on a lead to the speaker. I visibly seen it touch with the open leg of the the battery lead. Soon after, the amp wouldn't work, following intense heat. Therefore, leads me to believe it was a short that caused one of the chip resistors to blow. I too were fiddling with a secondary amplifier at the time, so I'm open to other possibilities.
I'm not following how a secondary amplifier would cause the short as mentioned by Meller and myself. The TDA2822M amplifier is configured to put out less than it's maximum capability. Under factory spec, this amp has a tolerance of 4-8 ohms with the supplied voltage of 7.2v http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/data...onics/1464.pdf
Now what I'm confused about is, how would a secondary amplifier cause the first amplifier to work harder that it would short? The secondary amp has no ability to command more input, only provide more output. Can you please explain?

Hi again
When I put the orginal speaker in the CN5 (speaker output on the RX18), the sound is finde... So I guess it has to be the amp that´s blown
I don´t think the RX18got hot before theamp broke, the setup was working perfectly - I´ll try with the new amp , and I´ll give you guys an update.
Hope the ampdoesn't pull to much power out of the RX18, it´s not worth a new RX18 every week
Thanks for thehelp guys

Hi the amps are shown in the posts there are 2 links to them.
You should only use a 8 ohm speaker with the amps
Also you put more strain on the rx18 amp if you have to always have the volume contole real high this is why you should hook it up the way i say and use the amps with the adjustable volume control on them this way you set the HL tank VOL not so loud and use the amps volume you don't want to crank the HL volume up past half way to 3/4 it will then just make your good amp amplify it's distorted signal so it will sound worse than stock.

Thanks for the help Shenlonco
*Edit* - This is the way you want me to hook it up, right?
