If you jump the truck high into the air and want it to settle nicely, get some really thick shock oil (50-100WT). Notice that your handling will suffer over bumpy ground, but you will be able to jump higher and more controlled, and your landing will be better.
For the front tires ballooning, you want to clean out the grease in the center diff (I would clean out all the diffs) and replace it with silicone oil. The thicker the oil, the less ballooning, and more of a direct 4WD feel, like a savage for example.
Also, if you use stiff spring will light shock oil, you landings are probably bouncy. First thing I would do is thicken the shock oil.
Peace

be careful on how heavy the shock oil is and pay attention to the pistons; using a high wieght oil with 1 hole pistons will blow out the shock seals and will NEED replacement-no way around that a good truggy weight is around 60 or 70 weight if you use losi or other silicon based oils....
as for diff. oil a good starting point is 20k in the front and 30-40k in the rear if you run on a loose track, but if theres a lot of traction 10-15k in the front and 20-30k in the rear. fyi those are just starting points not definates so your truck may need some tweaks, also be sure to shim the diffs. properly this can help with differential traction by not allowing them to completly unload under power and gradually power up the wheels.
the tire ballooning thing is just because your truck has a center diff. any true truggy has one and all have front end ballooning unless you really tweak your truck...ex. my mammoth st pro has a center diff. and balloons the front and thick diff oil in the front DOES NOT stop it so dont go too thick to try and prevent this... its just truggy nature

i generally dont go over 15K for a center, you cant make a truggy "like" a monster truck- its a race truck plain and simple. and for springs im not sure about jammin (im an XTM guy through and through) but i think that based on my experience white or yellow springs are your best bet esspecially for high/long jumps.

If you put a very think oil in the center diff, it will act like there is no diff, of at least very limited diff action. There will always be a diff action in the center, but by adding very thick oil, you can reduce the ballooning in the front. This not good in a racing environment. A general set up for racing is front-7000, center 10000-15000, rear-3000. Most racers use this set up on their truggies. Traxxasracer is right, you don't want to go extremely heavy in the shocks. about 60-80 should be fine for what you want to do. Make sure that the pistons have holes big enough, if you use pistons with very small holes, you will probably blow the shock cap.

using 3 piston shock in my 8ight T i use 45 WT in the front and 37.5 wt in the rear for shock oil, 7k rear diff, 10k front diff and 15k center, i mainly bash with a race once a month.
i think that using a slightly softer suspension setup (thinner oil) is better for larger jumps though, really thick oil mean all the pressure gos on the shocks, softer means the trug will bottom out and chassis slap the ground, which takes a lot of energy out of the landing, even if making it no so smooth.

planetary gears instead of spider gears will prevent the tires from ballooning but i dont know if you can get a planetary gear diff. for the x1-crt. i can tell you the reason they do balloon however: the diffs. act as limited slip meaning that when you lose traction in the front most of the power goes to the slipping wheels; all this does is lessen the power to the rear and strenghthen the power to the front. aside from planetary gears the only other way i can think of is a pawl 2 speed instead of a center diff. much like the ones used in the mammoth st RTR
