Good question, I was wondering the same thing, I´d like to try the losi li-po, but I dont know if its worth the $74, losi lipo + losi 6v regulator.

i ran a normal 1600mAh 5 cell hump pack.but realised i could fit a 5xAA hump pack in my hellfire so got one of them, they are about half the price but mine is 2600mAh so much better bang for buck.just measure your reciever box to make sure it will fit.

Thats what I run in all my cars/trucks.
Works like a charm, with ZERO problems to date.
I really like the ProTek regulators because they have a BRIGHT green LED when powered on.
It turns red when pack voltage drops to 6.2V, letting you know it's time to charge.

LIPO allll the way....when u DONT even have to Think about charging ALLLLL day....unless your crazy and practice for hrs at a time.....the losi is good so is the Protec....the losi does have balancing leads....and i Think the Protec's do now aswell......if u got the charger...its 74$ WELL spent.

Being able to run all day on a single charge is pretty nice. That includes running qualifiers and running long (45 minute) mains. That would be beyond the capabilities of any of the NiMH packs I own. If I was running long mains every weekend, I would certainly consider going lipo. But since our club doesn't, I can get away with running the NiMH packs on a single charge.

how long are your mains ? running longer mains is the Key to knowing who's got there Shi* together...most guys Drop out half way or less through the 30-45 min mark from what ive seen at big races....the A's are different of corse but still.....

i make my own 2500mah packs and they last a 30 minute main no problem. I actually did some calculations and even if the servos were stalled out drawing max current it would still lasd around 20 minutes. Normal load current like racing and your looking at 1-1.5 hours no problem. I did not take into account any voltage drop as the energy drains but you can at least get an hour. And that's also taking into account the receiver and transponder draw. Even knowing this I always put in a fresh pack before the main, it makes me feel better
THe one huge drawback is how heavy these packs are and I know it would be much nicer to have a small light lipo pack. I will probably make the switch over to lipo asap as they are so much lighter and maintain a constant voltage.

i make 2500Mah AA 5 cell packs, had to mod the 8ight T truggy box to fit it, but works a charm and lasts forever, granted it weighs slightly more, but im not that serious about racing. Also run 2s lipos with a Mamba BEC

They do need to be properly soldered if you want them to last. I just wish they were not so heavy. What lipo charger you guys use?

i used Orion Mini battery bones....so they were solder'd on correctly....and yes they are somewhat heavy in comparison to a lipo........i Use an Ice and a Superbrain 989 for all my lipo duties....2 cell Rx...3 cell Tx...and 4 cell Starter box....for a balancer i use a blinky....simple and dummie proof.

Right now I'm running the 1600 ofna packs, I have 2 of them..It works. The tracks that I race at run 20 minute mains so I have never had any problems. I am going to switch over to LiPos for no other reason than run time..the lower weight is just another bonus..
