I have a Neu 1515 1.5d/f and a Monster V2 in my E-MBX5T. It's been my favorite ride for about a year now. The pic below shows it with my old setup MM/Neu. What's cool about this truggy is the RC Product Designs integrated battery tray.

Here's mine (it's the cheap setup)...Thunder Tiger ST-1 brushless. It now has a heatsink on the motor and a 92mm fan blowing on the motor and ESC. The wiring has been cleaned up and zip-tied in place...the pic just shows when I first put everything together and confirmed it worked. The battery packs are the only ones I have right now...sadly. The truck bucks at times, I think due to the current limit of the battery packs. My Ener-G NiMH packs ALL died...damnit, so LiPo here I come!

I'm now thinking about building either a HB LSS BL 1/8 truggy or Kyosho DST BL 1/10 truggy (both truggies are pretty low priced).

Caster sport buggy has been out for 3 months. Caster rtr and pro just arrived 2 weeks ago and we sold out of the pros already. There are more pros in the air as we speak.

We dropped electric for a moment to release the new zx1.5r buggy and it is in the air also.....

Truggy will be released I would guess Jan 15 at the latest. I am waiting for a reply right now.

I have pictures........

I just finished my Losi 8T conversion last night and all I can say is "WOW"!!!! [X(] [X(]

The difference is like light and day compared with Nitro....

I ordered the following:

Mamba Monster 1/8 with 2200 motor
Losi 8T Conversion Kit
14.8v Lipo

Today I only ran my old 11.1v Lipo from my sons Traxxas Rustler and it was faster than my LRP 28 engine that I took out of the 8T!!! This thing wheelies all the way down the street and is incredible off road. The torque is just amazing compared with Nitro and it sounds sweet, my neighbours are not complaining

I will take delivery of the 14.8v Lipo on Monday and it should be even better, but 11.1v is plenty for this truggy. Tomorrow is a quick trip to our home grown track and all my buds have already admitted that the brushless will walk all over their race truggies LOL (not with me driving though).

The only thing I am struggling with is the braking on the Mamba as its a little too fierce, I have turned the braking down to 10% and its still extreme.

Good luck to all, you will never look back, time to go do the conversion to the Muggy now

On a low budget:

CC MM
XL-sized chinese motor (Feigao, KD, KB, Turnigy, etc.)
RCM mount

basically my setup. About the price of a CC Sidewinder, but WAY more power.

Do any of you guys have any good videos showing what a BL Truggy can do ? radar runs etc ? I have been searching online and I really havent found any video that really shows anything that good...... from the videos I have seen I am not seeing any more speed then the Nitro's I currently run ( based solely on video of course)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svbaq...eature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Yys0...eature=related

and this is one of my Fav's..halfway thru is a modified OS 28 thats simply killer in a MBX5T

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsVR7...eature=channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvKFb...eature=channel

Who knows maybe the sound just is getting me, or lack of sound IDK ! but it sure seems the modified Nitro 28's are nastier then the BL setups i can find on video so far ! maybe Nitro is not as dead as everyone thinks..

Oops, sorry, I should've given more detail...

ESC = Castle Creation Mamba Max (aka CC MM). The Mamba Monster Max (MMM) can handle more power, but it costs more. The MM will work fine in a truugy.

Motor & Batteries:
Pick a kV & voltage combo that gives you rpm in the 30k-40krpm range. I'm currently at 40k rpm on my setup (KD36 2800kV (really 2776kV) @ 14.4V). The lower kV motors typically make more torque, but you need more voltage to get them to that rpm range. I chose my setup because I wanted battery compatibility with my other truck which runs on either 12C NiMH or 4s LiPo (14.4V - 14.8V).
If you don't care about compatibility, go for a 6s LiPo & run a motor rated at 1400-1600ish kV.

Motor Size:
Get an XL sized motor. They have the letters XL at the end of their names or P/Ns. Can lengths are typically 60-80mm.
The larger sized motors are less stressed to run the heavier loads that are truggies & their big tires. An "L"-size motor will work, but may die sooner.
You can also run the even larger motors like the KB45 (45mm OD). Retarded amount of torque, but you'll need a custom mount as the normal ones don't fit the wider bolt pattern of the 45mm motors.

Mount:
Yes, that looks like the right mount. RCM can make you any mount you wan also.

UBEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit):
Any of the ones on hobbycity are fine.

HTH. Take a look at the Official Conversion thread in the electric offroad forum more details on my setup (low-cost).

rschoi - do you get any glitching with the RX so close to the ESC and motor? I purposely kept my RX as far away from the power switching parts as I could. where are you located? We should meet up! If my motor dies, I'm going to pick up a Medusa and my setup won't be so low budget then...haha.

I haven't had any glitching problems at all. I get a solid 150 yards on range before I chicken out and turn around.

I don't race, but always love to take my trucks out whenever possible. I get together with the so-cal guys at rc-monster once every other month. We've been going to a place called Le Bard Park in Huntington Beach recently, but are always on the look out for new spots. We'd be more than happy to have another join us.

Both those ESCs will work the same, but they DO NOT HAVE REVERSE as those ESCs are made for planes. Not sure if reverse is important to you. For me, it's a necessity. If reverse is important, I'd highly recommend the Mamba Max. It will handle most motors fine and will work well with a truggy (since truggies aren't that heavy).

That motor will work great. Keep in mind tho that you will not be able to use the RCM mount that you linked before as the KB45 motors have a larger mount radius and you will have to drill out the Mod1 pinions since they fit 5mm shafts and the KB45s have 6mm shafts. But that motor will make retarded amounts of torque! I think it's overkill for a truggy, but it will make lots of power and torque.

With the KB45 motor, use a 6s LiPo.

This is the motor I have: KD36 (36mm can vs. the 45mm can of the KB45). It works great with a 3s or 4s. Less torque, but plenty of torque and power for a truggy. But that KB45 really will be insane and for not much more money!
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...hless_Inrunner

BTW, finedesign has mounts also that will work. They wrap around the can of the motor and mount to the chassis floor. You may need to drill holes for the finedesign mounts, but they will work as well. The RCM mounts are more integrated so nothing looks out of place. RCM will make you a mount for the same price as the normal mounts, you just need to send him your center diff assembly (brakes and all).

Nope lol dont need reverse. So is this a great budget setup? Also could i mchine my own mount, what size? Dont want to wheelie though lol
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...h_showCart.asp charger in the cart, is it perfect and compatable with battery? Or is their a cheapier one thats better?
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...5C_Lipoly_Pack isthisa perfect 6s, will it work good with the esc?

Of you don't need reverse, those ESCs are fine. All the chargers are the same, just different branding. Pick whichever you like. Look at the pics and functions, identical aside from aesthetics.

Any of the 6s will work fine. Just make sure you have room for it on the truggy as they're different shapes and sizes. The higher the capacity, the better. Same with discharge rating (the "C", i.e 15C, 20C, 25C, etc.).

Keep in mind those esc's don't have proportional braking. Either all brake or no brake. Have to keep your throttle servo in there = more weight and less room.

Is there a fan or heat sinc for the Neu 2200 motor that comes with the Castle MM combo?

Thanks
