RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
hey cmewse can you give me a link of the hot bodies diff? and is it a direct drop in ?
Oh, and what you guys think of my new paint job? The body is the JConcepts Heavy Duty for the Hellfire http://img338.imageshack.us/img338/4...llfire3jp6.jpg http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/6...llfire4mo1.jpg |

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
And how does the Lightning Stadium Pro hardened diff's holds up?? .. BTW.. is it only those Diff gears .. or with differential case? I try'd HPI Savage's Alloy Diferential case's with original HPI differential gears.. and still the gears broked down. Engine I use is LRP z.28 SPEC3 Truggy and 15 tooth Rasing Clutc bell. An other cometiotion ended and last 2 laps I drove with 2wd... still ended 3-th :)

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I'm also having diff's problems in racing, basically been missing some Mains because of that, yesterday I actually won the main but in the last lap I had the CVD pin came out or broke and had to go like at 10 mph the last 20 secs, good thing I was a bit ahead of the rest of the truggies.
Hey cmewse is this what you ordered? and does the case actually fit directly or u have to use the hellfire case? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJBF6&P=7 thanks. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Hey zJatoRad, Yes that is the same diff, the whole unit is a direct swap, case and all.
You guys found any other weaknesses? |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
what diff oil's is everyone running?
The more horse power the thicker the oil needs to be, If you go 2 thin you will always blow diffs. I know some guys go with alum. diff cups. What is happen is the plastic diff cups are flexing and the gears are not staying meshed like they need to be and the gears are letting lose. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Im running it stock so the centre diff is 15k and the f/r are 7k i think, will have to check what came with the kit. Im running an STS D30M 5.0cc engine.
Do you think the oil weight might be a bit light for such a big engine, the RTR Hellfire comes with a 4.6 so its not that much more. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
It might have been the cyclone doughnuts I was doing that killed the rear diff though, not sure if there designed to take that?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
cyclone doughnuts
are not the best thing to do to your diffs. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Bloody good fun though :D, it wont pull wheelies though, what sort of weight oil would lock the center diff enough for that?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
i think what you would want would be a thin rear diff and a super thick front, leave the middle the same.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
got the new diff and installed it today, works fine and feels a bit tighter. need to up the clutch bell though way to much torque ive heard 17th is good.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Hey fasteddie so you would recommend upgrading to the Nova cases? or get a hot bodies hardened diff?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Would I be able to make [link=http://www.venom-group.com/product/racing/atomik_bodies/atomik_bodies.htm]this[/link], the F150 body fit the hellfire with a little cutting?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Hey agentM192, i dont think so mate, that body is fo the RC10GT which is a 1/10th truck, the Hellfire is 1/8th. Any 1/8th body should fit with a little fettling though. ;)
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
what happen to everyone?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I went ahead and ordered the Nova 7075 Aluminum DIfferential cups, I should be getting them soon, I really hope they eliminate the flex.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
WHAT TOOTH BELL GEAR ARE YOU RUNNING?
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
i've just put a savage 17 teeth in mine and it is faster, killed the acceleration a bit but the engine is still quite new and should give more power soon. Slightly conserned that the teeth have indented about 50%, the main gear must be hardened. will let you all know if the clutch bell gives out.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I NEEDED MORE LOW END PUNCH FOR MY TIGHT TRACK WITH MAJOR JUMPS SO I JUST PICKED UP A 14 TOOTH AND I'LL FIND OUT SOON HOW IT WORKS OUT. I WAS RUNNING A 15 TOOTH.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
let me know if you notice much of a differance, i didnt think 1 tooth would do much.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
I'm currently running a 14T vented clutch bell,, i'm running a OS 21 VG with a JP1 pipe, I think I have way too much torque, I think i'll get a 15T soon.
|
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
i'M RUNNING OS-V SPEC,JP1,STARTED WITH A 13 TO MUCH LOW END,THEN WENT TO A 15 NOT ENOUGHT FOR ME SO I'M THINKING A 14 IS WHAT I NEED.
WHAT DIFF FLUIDS ARE YOU RUNNING? I GOT 7000 FRT,10,000 CENTER AND 5,000 REAR. |
RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
Hi im new to nitro trucks and was wondering if anyone could help me, i have a roto start 2 for my hellfire and it turns the engine ok at first then it struggles to turn the engine i dont think its the roto start its self as there seems to be enough power in the battery and was wondering if it could be the engine and if there was anything i could do to loosen it. Also it seems to turn ok when i dont have the glow plug in. Any help would be appreciated [8D]
