OK, is your engine new? if so it's the pinch, you can start the engine with the glow plug a little loos which will work ok, my solution with new engines is to heat it up with a hair dryer for a few mins, get it nice and hot and it will turn over easily.

I'm looking to get a hellfire kit. Can anyone recommend upgrades I should do during the build. Thanks

Screws Screws Screws Screws screws screws screws! Seriously they are terrible I stripped several during the build… also might want to look at this link for a brace mod that is very useful!!!!!

http://www.maxbashing.com/forum/inde...b11d32f6b54eee

It may seem extreme but trust me it is needed – I crashed mine into a post at a very low speed and the two bolts holding the brace backed out and broke my servo saver, and that’s not an easy bit to replace without much unscrewing!

Larger clutch bell – 15 teeth

CVD boots

LSP hardened diffs if you intend to race, seems to come up a few times

Oh and heat shrink the cvd pins so they don’t come out!

Hello everyone.
Picked up an SS a few weeks back when on sale. Took my time building I think the results were worth it.
Was in the hobby 20 years ago running 1/10 scale and took some time off.
Hobby almost lost me again with the warhead fiascle.
Have been running in the streets breaking in the engine. These 1/8 scale vehicles are fast.
Need to start racing soon.
Any way here is a pic.

Sorry for the size.

Yeah, I'm having issues with the rear hinge brace screws popping out too.. It's a PAIN to keep re screwing. I'm just gonna go with longer screws now and see what goes.

vindicator65 06-29-2007 04:37 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Longer screws will work ok but if the screws have backed out a couple of times you may need to replace the plastic bulkheads first.

The brace mod I listed earlier can be performed on the rear too, It is a good idea to drill holes in the braces and bolt them to the lower chassis – adds considerable strength.

You may also wish to consider drilling up into the plastic bulkhead and adding a nut to each of the two bolts that attach the brace to the bulkhead, this effectively makes it impossible for the bolts to back out. Option three is to use longer bolts and threadlock them in (not much added strength but better than nothing if you do not wish to replace the plastic bulkheads)

I just built my hellfire ss but one problem the upper tie rods are just to hard to turn to make an adjustment. Does anybody have a problem with this?

I need shocks washers #87545, but I didn`t found them anywhere. Do you know which washers can I use instead of these?

Hello everyone. I recently replaced my pull start with a roto on my hellfire. When mounting the engine back on, should I have the gears firmly pressed together? Or should it be just snug?

Hey all, had a bit of a nightmare this week, got a new hpi 17t bell, installed ok but after the first run the teeth were rather indented, had a second run yesterday and all the teeth stripped! looks like the bell was not hardened steel and the spur gear is. anyway the pullstart also went walkies during running so ordered a hpi racing bell and replacement STS pullstart, went to remove the old bell and the rubish screw head stripped! got the guys at work to drill it out and re-tapp the thread TG so dont have to get a new crank. just wating for the new bell and pullstart to come now. I have a Hellfire RTR and when I jump it, it gets very tail happy. I know you can add throttle in the air to level it, but I want it to fly straight without and driver input.
So I was wondering, what is the stock shock fluid for the front and rear shocks?

cmewse 07-12-2007 12:12 PM

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

When you say "tail happy" do you mean the rear end comes up? the shocks wont have much afftect, you probably need to get the ss rear wing which will give you more downforce on the rear.
