but i am working on a new set that will allow the arm to pop off if the front tires get a hard hit

then the front arm just pop out without a damage and it can be popped in without tools

A friend of mine had a 'extremeracing' deck which he liked alot. I personally havent tried a carbon deck. I dont know what weight diff there would be. Are you racing?
On another note i found my main diff problems (as previously discussed) were because the diff cups, where the 2 bearings sit on the pininon, were warping under pressure even after shimming causing the pinion to move away from the main gear and thus stripping the pinion. Ive read this is a common problem.
I have read of stronger diff cups available, alloy. Any exact brands anyone has tried?

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a Hellfire from a local guy via Craigslist. It's used, but in decent shape with a few hop ups. Here is what it came with: Hellfire kit, Ofna Picco .26, RB pipe, graphite upper deck, front and rear aluminum braces, and thicker shock towers front and rear. It also came with a decent JR steering servo, stock HPI Rx/Tx from a savage, 2 bodies, and an Ofna 1/8 scale bag to transport it. The only thing it needed was the radio cover as it was broken. I ordered it from stormer for $14. The engine has a new pullstart and plenty of compression left. I paid $270 for it.

I thought it was a good deal so I jumped on it. I'm in the process of tearing it down to give it a good cleaning and inspection before running it this weekend. I plan on putting in an Axial engine in it if this engine isn't good or enough.

Pictures will be posted as a before and after once I finish with it.

Thanks,
Joe

PS
My son has a Revo 2.5 that we bash with. How will my Hellfire compare speed wise, to his Revo?

Your alot more skillful than me. How does it handle with your mods?

With the axial you should get about 35/40mph, not sure about the picco26. I use to have the k4.6 and it went about 35mph, now i have the os 28 and it flies (not sure the speed).

Update Hellfire Mod:

Here are 2 more "bars" for custumers with one special version.

The special need a carbon "rope" with epoxy to join the 2 "sidebars" together (pitures follow).

here's a pic of my Savage.

http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...n/DSC01800.jpg

JR XS3 syntesized radio
Futaba 9351 steering servo
Spectrum 590 throttle servo

I bought this truck used and as far as I know its all stock. It started as a RTR and I added the Proline Bowties to it and a JConcepts body along with all the upgraded electronics. It does have some kind of billet front shock tower on it that I am wanting to replace with a stock one. I like the looks of hard annodized stuff anyway. And I'm wanting to add a carbon fiber upper deck to it. This is definately a fun truck to run, but since it is a basher, I added 30,000 wt oil in the center, 5,000 wt in the rear and 7,000 in the front. And I switched over to a 15t CB. I also don't like how these new tires look on it because IMO they are too wide. I'm wanting to add the new Proline (Revo sized) black 1/2in. offset wheels with the new Proline Crimefighter tires.

I am ordering a new engine and pipe combo from Stormer. I was wondering if this wouls be a good combo for my Hellfire: Axial .28 Spec 1 and an Ofna JP-3 header and pipe. This will be used strictly for bashing with my son and his Revo. What do you guys think?

Lastly, Stormer has an Axial .28 Spec 1 Pro for $20 more than the .28 Spec 1. I can find any info on the Pro version on Axial's site. Does anyone know the difference?

Thanks,
Joe

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread

Stomer show the 28spec1 pro is same as Axial 28RR.
Stomer : https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...c=ns&pn=AX0330

Axial : http://www.axialracing.com/details.php?Id=3531

28RR is higher RPM than 28 spec1s
(38,500 vs 36,000)
