RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
Oh boy.
Just studing airfoils in Brewster Finnish, F2A had NACA 23018 in root and in tip 23009. Later F3A models 23015in root...
In early model much more room for landing gear. Need to check the difference in plans. If too much, going to cut from foam the wing and sheet with balsa. Early models performed better in air, in real plane maybe models too?
Is there anyone using NACA23018? Its very thick airfoil..

Back at home, checked the plans. Airfoil is perfect for F2A. 98mm thickest point and root width is 545mm so its 18% thick.
Thank you Mr Bates! Just founded pics from Pekuris Brewster taken by J.Bates himself. Very nice ones. Respect for him, he is done his homework.
Got the engine today!!! And tube for wing joining and sleeve for it.Enginefits inside cowl nicely, with ease.
Its always nice toget new toys.+Nice upper view.
Cheers

Pic from motor on box... Angle lies, fits nicely with 2 degrees down/right thrust, which is in built to box. 2cm standoffs are just perfect.

RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
Just picked the parts from customs! Quality of parts is just amazing! Well worth of all waiting. Larry from PCK told havent cut this kit in this size before, so the designingcutting took same extra time.
I can highly recommened PrecisionCutKits for all! Parts was packed well, 14kg weight of balsa and ply!!! This is full wood kit. Price in finnish standards is very good. Here 14kgraw balsa and ply is more expensive than cutted kit! Now pushing forward....
Cheers

RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
Havent started the wings yet, going to use 2 degrees washout, real plane had little over 1 degree. NACA 23009 in tip have agressive stalling charestics if rumors are true, so 2 degrees just in case. Tail will be 0 degrees, root in wing +2 degrees. Motor box have 2 degrees right and down thrust. Dont know how it was in real plane..Your english is good no worries, and reading RCU is perfect practice.. I feel someday my english truely s*cks..

RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
Correct wing angles are
root +2
tip +0,85 (0 is better)
And tailplane 0 degrees.
Twist/washout in wing is correct.
changing the wing angle effects to flying position, if im right. B

RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
Finally pics, havent been lazy. Mechanism is strong plane makes push upps easily!! With 18volts retract time is 12-13seconds. Too slow for competition but for match for real perfectly.
Thanks for the pic fix Pertti.

RE: Finnish Brewster F2A Buffalo
I have used gear down position as building support, plane stands steadily. Thickness of arms is scale, but im still give a tought for 12mm arms
double the material and would be bullet proof. maybe overkill..Its now very easy coz i know the parts lenghts. 2-3hours and i can make set of arms. Materials are solid hard alloy self made inserts and steel hinges. I have stronger hinges at home maybe do later spare arms.
Installing new ones is possible on field too. Will see.. In pics lots of sanding and filling on sight.. tail cone shaped rawly by knife.
Planning to make retractable tailwheel powered by same screw jack by pull wire. There is plenty of reserve power on screw jack.
Lots of scale details need to be add to parts. But it was most important to get mechanism work. It wasnt easy. Part lengts and angles was
lot of testing and quessing. Took 3 days to get it work.. [:'(]-J-
