Yellow Aircrafts spinner should work. The planes are the same size/scale. Yellow's spinner isn't cheap either but it's well done.

I got my 4.75in spinner made for the ESM 89" WS Spitfire from Troybuilt models for less then $70.00. Here is the link.

Please be introduced to Flight LT. Donald Moore. He is a blue box collector's item. I just wish he had long pants, lol... I have had him for over 3 years waiting for the perfect ride to put him in.. Funny that; the Spitfire project began with the purchase of the pilot...

Why do you want composit rod? How about using Kevlar or braided steel cable?

who carries kevlar rods and is not that similar to composite rods?
never thought of using braided steel
just trying to keep the servos in the main fuse tray...so i need something that will stay rigid

KMP's Aerovate 55cc gas engine is the choice for this spit on the power. 5.2 HP, the engine should swing a 20x10 3 blade Warbird prop without a problem. I accented the installation with a Magnum RC Inverted Pitts muffler chosen for it's durability and compact design. It will cowl in the engine without compromising the cowl in anyway. The muffler is powder coated with 1200 degree black, and should offer a degree of better quieting characteristics over the chinese versions.

If you are using a pull pull system the cables keep both sides pretty taunt. So no need to use a push rod. However if you are using a push rod then you can buy fiberglass pushrods with ends from http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php...od-system.html

Hi guys. I have one of these babies in my basement now but I'm having trouble getting started. I'm installing a DLE 55 and have had to add about 1/2" to firewall to get prop out far enough to clear cowl. Also using the centerline markings on firewall does not place endine in center of cowl. If I correct this by shimming the standoffs, I lose the offset. The engine is already mounted to the right edge of firewall so moving the standoff location is not an option. Also, has anyone checked out how the stock control horns are mounted? No way that I can stick with manual procedures here, simply not strong enough. I love the look of this plane but wish some of the details were better. Has anyone else started this Spit? I'd like to talk fixes for these and other issues (Is the wing tube long enough and should it go through the 3rd rib in the wing? Maybe not but I'd like someone else's take on it). Anyone look at retract options? I'd like to go with electrics if I can find them! Hope I can get this thing in the air this spring! Looks great!

hey zoomflier
i have the same engine and you r right about 1/2 inch from the fire wall
the stock horns in my opinion won't be strong enough to hold ...so one of the screws will be mounted through the aileron it will ruin the scale look a bit but is a necessity
talk to Gus from kmp he has a simple fix for the wing tube issue ...and yes it should go through the 3rd rib
i ordered the esm electric retracts for under $300 with the upgrade board and aluminum hubs
you can fibd them on the troy built site
also a spinner that is 43/4 in can be found here as well

Try a dive shop. They have weights for weight belts with slots in them

12/2 2010 Brad says;
Canopy/Frame- Just look at some pictures of actual aircraft and do it right.

12/3 2010 AKondor says;
The final version will have some changes to it for sure.
For now we thought we would post what we have as a sneal peak only!!

1/31 2012 j-d posts this:

Look at where the yellow arrow points.....

The curvature....Mk Vb curved outwards with armoured plate on the outside.
Mk IX Almost flat side panel glass...armour plate inside.

Clearly the model windshield is as on a Mk I-Vb without the armour-plate up front....on a Mk IX plane....

They had a whole year to fix it, but didnt.

please this plane has a lot more problems than that.... that's trivial
but they can be over come with a little work!
Mine is ready to fly a week after Easter Monday...if it fly's as good as it looks.....well the sky is the limit!...will
have video evidence!

You forget the initially discussed problem here. In my opinion it is not trivial.

( Your "problems" are building issues for the builder to solve, not for the factory, IMO)

At 12/4/2010 Chad Veich mentioned something that absolutely everyone who is interested in warbirds knows;

It is DU-L, not D-UL. And that was 12/4-2010. Other issues mentioned as well.

If you look at the last pictures it is revealed that the canopy windshield is still wrong. And it is still D-UL.

But yes, you can make a windshield yourselves. And paint over the cheesy colours.

And then you have a nice looking, big spitfire. That is true.

And do not forget that the Czechoslovakia flag is turned wrong way:

yah your right vik ....simple flaws i don't mind .....but that is unacceptable !  I did not realize that error.... the company and Andrew will be hearing from me.......I still hope it fly's well .......but the lack of simple attention to detail has me somewhat worried if they miss something in the structural design that comprises the flying ability of the plane!
