Yeah, the FW190 is a beautiful bird and I like its flying characteristics’. At one point, I had 12 flying FW's and about 30 FW190 kits. Something like seven Topflite FW's, several Platt 1/7 scale, several Platt 1/5th, Meister and others just waiting. I built two to three kits at a time. I started selling them on site as this was just too much! I bought a p-47 just to build something different... Never built it!
Now that I have my children and needed the space, I only have three flying and two kits.

Here is the firewall prior to installation. I cut some 3/8th plywood strips and boxed them around the old ¼†firewall which allows me to get exactly 3/8 dept needed to get a proper distance for the spinner. I glued the hardware with hysol which doesn’t look good but works. I’ll be using gorilla glue to mount the firewall back into the fuse and then wrap the insides with triangle stock which will be hysoled. Then I’ll place some toothpicks through the firewall for more strength.
I’ll take more pics as I go to make more sense.
In the first picture you can see through the firewall to the next former which holds your wing. I'd re-inforce this as it's really thin wood for a almost 1/5th scale kit.

Now I remember you!!!..lol Good to see the addiction is spreading.
I've glued the firewall in with gorilla glue and used some homemade supports to keep this in place as it dries and used the stanchions to secure it. I love gorilla glue. I lost a TF 190 which went in like a lawn dart. The areas that had this stuff were still glued in place or came out whole as were the epoxy areas were destroyed.

In this picture, I’ve mounted the cowl ring. I removed some of the wood for air flow and used a set of 10-32 blind nuts as the instructions wanted you to use some wood screws to hold the cowl to the fuse. You can see the section I removed to the side of the cowl. I mounted the two rings together to make sure proper fit when I mount this to the fuse, they are not glued together. I'll aeropoxy the ring in the cowl later.

Gene Barton sez there are no 4.5 inch Focke Wulf spinners available from him at this time. He has some, but they are 4.25 inch. Perhaps sometime in the future.
Ram's spinner looks good with the screws recessed in profile...

Corsair183, Thx for the compliment. Did you mention you have one in route? Like all my FW190’s; I buy two so I can have a backup. We’ll see how this one works out before I do this.
I do like what I see though, other than the canopy.
I do see a flip in the future! [8D]
I'm even considering a change in color on this one as it will be a popular FW.

Before I retire tonight I was able to get the canopy to function. This is a real simple method to do.
I went with a large robart air tank and placed it behind the soon to be cockpit. I beveled the wood a little to compensate for the angle of the canopy. Once I get the cockpit kit, I can finish this area.
It still needs another restrictor to slow it down though.
I'll post the video when completed.

RE: ESM FW D-9
Ram, yes, I put a deposit on one months back. Then there was some talk about the ESM not being a full 82.5 inches, that the KMP would be a full 1/5. When the KMP surfaced, its proportions and attention to detail were discussed at some length by Evil Merlin and others.
With confirmation of the wingspan, Ty's cockpit kit and the trailblazing you've done on the gear, the engine mount, and the canopy, I'm heavily inclined toward the ESM.
Andrew said he would send me some pics of the production KMP today so I'll make a decision and get one of these D9's shipped.
You've captured the minds and hearts of many with your nicely detailed explanations and photos. Thanks!

RE: ESM FW D-9
hey Ramstein44 that bird is looking really good, im guessing it wont take much weight up front to get her to balance since she has a long nose. im thinking of getting a ASP 5 cylinder radial for when i get mine and im hopping it wont be too nose heavy after i install it []
good luck and happy flying

RE: ESM FW D-9
The KMP shipment has been seized by U.S. customs agents, homeland security whatever...I'm wondering if they are going to fondle my airplane or look at my aircraft without its covering, the way they do American citizens when we want to go someplace on an airplane.
The reasoning is that, now that we have killed the world's greatest terrorist, we have created many new ones and so we have to look anywhere and everywhere for these new terrorists....airplane kits for example.
Is it really only a justification for hundreds of thousands of unnecessary jobs? Or did government create a problem so they could give us a preordained solution?

Thx Rifraff.
I would like to get pics of KMPs' Dora also.
As fro the ESM D9, not much to tell here lately. I’ve had little time to work on her after my excitement with the glass dust.
I started working on the cockpit now that I have the kit but had to modify the dash since the instructions video came out after I’d cut the cockpit open[&o]. From now on, any ESM warbird I get; I'll sit on it until Ty does his magic to it.
I have everything fitted; just waiting for the base coat to dry. I also re-enforced the sliding rails with .05mm flitskin which gave them a little extra springiness.
Anyone else yet???[&o][8D]

I’m still plinking away at the cockpit kit installation. Something to consider when you place this in is that the servos will need to be raised (see picture) for proper clearance if you cut the cockpit where the line specify or you can raise the cockpit higher about ½ inch. The only thing I did different to the cockpit was to make a ¼ inch by6 inch cut to the top of the cockpit to accommodate for the sliding canopy rails.
The rear of the cockpit (see Pictures) will also need some provisions for the cables and so on. I’m going to raise the servos a little with some 1/2inch stock which will also re-enforce the weak servo mounts.
I also noticed that I’m missing the elevator control wire from the kit and the guides per the instructions weren't ran through the fuse which is fine by me as I’m pretty sure from the instructions that it’s too weak to support a 1/5th scale aircraft. I’ll be working this area later with a carbon rod similar to what I did on the ESM Anton.

RE: ESM FW D-9
Ram,
Everything is looking fine. You've probably already thought of this, but a simple way to raise the servos would be to install two, quarter or three eights by 1/2 inch balsa rails. Could be re-enforced by triangular stock if needed.
No word from KMP yet.
The composite rods in my CMP 109 kit did not adhere well to epoxy. The end pieces pulled out while adjusting the servos.

Yup, that’s the plan or really close to it with the servos. I’ll have them in later today. When possible, I run a steel rod or steel screw (depending on the size of the rod) through the carbon rod into the elevators and use Hysol to secure it all or gorilla glue depending.

More progress on the tail retract installation. I’ve got the bugs out by just cutting channels in the tail former like I did on the ESM FW190A8. I changes out the control guide tubes as they’re junk to me at least and used dubro tubes instead on this area only.
I also changed out the steel pull-pull wire for Dubro heavy duty plastic coated wire.
