Plant three has been quietly hard at work on the gun smoke pulse system, and WE NOW HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU ALL!!!!!!
This is the prototype version that will be mounted in the Corsair.
Can you see what Dan is doing here with the design?

Thanks goes to Mitch at Down & Locked for helping us with a very important component, the motor.

What you see is the duel pump that provides a 'pulse' because it pumps a burst in each direction, as the powder is ingested on the suction stroke due to the in-line check valves. A normal fuel tank and clunk serves as a holding tank for the powder. Powder is pumped to the manifold in each wing, then distributed individually to the tubes running to the shell discharge tubes under the wing and behind the spar. What we expect to see is a pulse of smoke trailing from the leading edges, coordinated with the sound and flashes.

The intakes are now installed, as well as the speakers for the guns. Brian wound up making the bell around the cooler out of thin brass so it could be shaped and soldered, then he covered the brass with aluminum foil. Only some minor bondo for final blending to the lips remains. Then the leading edges can be covered with aluminum and detailed. We think this feature really sets the Corsair off.

We have to give credit to Joe Harter for the wonderful job he did on the intakes. We would not have had time to do them as he did. All we had to do is figure out how to get them installed and blend them in. To my knowledge, this is the first CARF Corsair to get the detail we have in this area, and what a difference it makes!!!!
The whiskers on Lt. Col. John T. Blackburn will have to wait for another year. Time marches on.
I have an idea to make his arm go up to the canopy as he slides it open and shut, but again, that will have to wait for another time.

My hat goes off to Joe for the excelent workmanship on the intakes . Only someone with a love for the craft can achieve such perfection. They look fantastic and very scale .The intakes set this build out from all others very unique. I can't wait to see her in action.

Thanx for the complement"s guy's. But this is teamwork, and if what we make can gain a few extra points in static score then that's what count's.
A Corsair of this caliber deserves nothing but 110% effort and i know Gary, Brian & Dino can pull it off!!! Proud to part of the team......joe harter

It is gratifying that this build is giving so many others the opportunity to showcase their skills as well.
BTW Joe, the break disks came today, and they are amazing as well. I didn't get a picture before I dropped them off at Brian's shop. I'm sure he will have them installed very soon. I'll get some pictures for everyone.

They'll look better painted and matched up with the rims/tires anyway.
Let me know if they need any correcting at all ......joe

Took a break from the 'honey I shrunk the Corsair cockpit' project to get the ailerons done for Brian. Here they are, ready to go back in.
My aluminum yard stick gave up some more parts. I'll need a new one by the time this is done.

Thanks guys.
Sorry to be out of touch. I have not been able to log on this site from home for three days. Not sure what is going on. I get the 'timed out' message.
I'm not at a home computer, so I can't post pictures yet.
In my shop, the cockpit is 95% done now, the fuselage lighting is done, and the latch for the top hatch is done (a simulated fuel cap that doubles as the handle / latch). Brian has all the wing lighting done, the all the covers on all the hinges including the ailerons, the sound system for the guns, the light system for the guns, and is working on the guns themselves. This is a challenge on the folding wing version because the front hinge is in the way of a couple guns. It will be fine though. I have pictures to post on this when I can.
I'll post pictures on all of the above when I can. I'm considering moving my build thread operation to RCSB. That site works fine from my computer. I have a thread on that site already but rarly post for lack of time. I can barly keep up with one thread.
Picked one of my sons up from the hospital today, so I was able to jump on another computer.
more to follow,
Gary
