Some general info for building, the green paint in the wheel wells can be matched with Tamiya enamel,
XF-5 Flat green , 2/3rds
X-2 White, 1/3rd
It's a perfect match for those touch ups or mods, especially if you prefer brush painting instead of taping up for an hour for a square inch of paint:P

Epoxy, give it a scuff with sand paper and epoxy both hole and tube.
I done trust CA on something I know ill bump with my arm at some point plus it will look sad if I loose a gun in flight.
My top antenna was all warped so made one out of dowl and painted it, also mounted it in a magnetic receiver along with the pitot tube, I used tiny little magnets from sdhobby, they use them for ignition triggers if you were wanting a similar setup.

I just flush mounted it, I turned a bush that inserted into it with 1/8 music sticking out.
I didn't pay much attention to it as I spent 10 days doing the custom art on the cowl, figured nobody would notice my ariel

Hey guys, the maiden was fine apart from a big plane deceiving my depth perception on the runway, here's the video, the plane is much louder than it sounds in the video, my camera is not good at shooting video in the open

For the electric folks: Got a question. Did everyone put the receiver on the supplied board under the battery tray? I have a spectrum ar7010 and worried that the RX that close to Lipos will cause interference.

Maiden H9 30cc
Well, the weather in Northwest Connecticut finally has been nice enough to get out and fly. Did my maiden with my new H9 30cc P47 - flys like a dream. Got in 4 good flights, all with excellant landings.
She's a bit on heavy side; All Robart Electric retracts, and Cockpit kit plus pilot put it around 22 lbs. Flys with the DLE55RA, and a 22x8 Valley View Prop.
Here's some photos.

I'm glad it went well, I noticed you did the panel lines, I have seen the videos on it but was scratching my head as to how you keep your film tight and not loose your detail?
I own 4 hangar 9 warbirds and not one of them doesn't need a good iron at least every 4 trips to the field, my big P-47 developed bubbles in the film by its first afternoon at the field, I covered it when not flying and actually put it undercover and it still blistered, perhaps our Sun is harsher than other countries?

As for the yellow strips, I don't recall focusing on them. I did not install the inboard wheel cover, and did notice, and used, the crescent shape of the retracted wheel to get a flight perspective.

as described earlier in this build thread, I spent about 4 hours chasing wrinkles prior to doing any of the panel lines. I used a straight edge to draw the lines, then laid masking tape along a wooden yard stick, and marked off 1/4 inch marks. Then laid the tape along the lines and used a 1/32 copper rod attached to a low wattage soldong iron and went heat-tapping along the masking tape. Used smuges of black paint for oil effect. When all done, sprayed over it with flat clear.
What I'm saying is if I was to panel line it I would loose my lines when re-ironing it correct?

Hi all,
I am looking for legs for the landing gear. I target to go electric but Robart is difficult to find down here in Fr. I am thinking of Lado but would need advice on legs. Any other manufacturer suggestion to get scale ones? Typical length for this aircraft (I measured 239mm from gear pit side closest to wing tip to centre of wheel pit)?
thks

Blair I'm in Albion park, it's about 100km south of sydney. Haven't started building my jug yet so still tossing up which engine to use. Dle55 is hard to beat for value, but I really would like a radial -that sound is too good.

I must say its nice when you start up and those that know the sound all look your way as their in for audible treat ,
Radials sound great but if you want a fast plane with brute hp you'll need the dle55, no denying their fast, mine isn't run in fully and I haven't found the perfect prop either but Id guess after sharing the sky with a big stang with a 55 in it that my full throttle is his 3/4 throttle, but when I do a low pass he watches my plane not his.

I am almost done with the project with Electric power set up. I am using an AXI 5345/16 motor with a 5 oz. aluminum motor mount, Castle Creation 160HV ESC, and 12s 5000 mAh lipo battery. Robart electric main and tail retracts. Total weight right now is 21.4 lb.
I am waiting for the arrival of a CG device to balance. But It seems still tail heavy by using fingers to check it roughly. Just want to check with you guys who has EP set up if this is the case and need more nose weight.
Thanks.
Ellis

Do you know your AUW?
I have the H9 detailed cockpit, 21x12 Turnigy electric wood prop and a tru-turn spinner on it right now. When I tried to balance it yesterday with my fingers, the plane is still tail heavy after I added 4oz. lead at the spinner.
