When you call Truturn there is a lady that will answer you questions and place the order. She knows her stuff. I can't remeber her name. I have order 2 different spinners and they know what you will need. I think it is about 160.00 for the set up but well worth it. The stock spinner is junk.

I have the true turn spinner and it is so much better than the stock one. Well worth the cost. Mine is cut for a two blade and I might get it cut for a 4 blade after I get the 35 broke in and plane setup and trimmed right. I will say that after building my last 3 warbirds from ESM it is nice to build one from Hangar9. This is a nice plane. I like my ESM planes but they are not really what I would call ARFs. Lol. Can't wait to see this plane fly. All my ESM birds came in well above the stock weight. But they all flew good. If the posts and comments are right about this 80" warbird coming in at a little over 16 pounds, she is going to be a floater.

Guys, are the stock mechanical retracts in the new version of the plane any good for grass fields? I am interested but don't want to put out more big bucks for the Sierras or Robarts. Thanks. Jon

I didn't have any luck but I have seen a lot of guys flying off of grass with the stock units on you tube....

If anyone needs any replacements I will have the set that came with mine.

Just to clarify, we made ZERO changes to the 150 Mustang when we brought it back. No changes to the airframe or the hardware, no changes to the manual, no changes to the box art. We simply hit the "order" button again.

If you use 4" wheels and are proficient at landing you will just fine with the mechanical retracts on a grass field.
The stock struts bend pretty easy. On hard landings the torque links have been known to pop off. Lenny at [link=http://shindinmachine.com/]Shindin Machine[/link] makes aluminum replacement struts for the mechanical gear.


Just remember you are going to have to purchase two retract servos at $60.00 each to operate the mechanical gear.

Dave I wish you'd hit the order button on replacement parts. It would be nice if I could get an extra cowl if I needed one.

Whistling Death -  I REALLY like that camo scheme your doing.  

I agree if I go the H9 route that I want it to work 'as it comes"  dont want to hunt around for retracts, upgrades, etc.    If I do all that, I will go with one that has more scale potential with associated work or just build.   I am watching this thread intently as I havent decided on which mustang I am getting.  Already have power so its a matter of which.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have alerted the purchasing and product teams. We do have some spare parts but we seem to have discontinued others. Doesn't make sense to discontinue a cowl, since it's one of the most often-replaced items.

Oh No!! I wish. The 150 is a much better looking bird. I wish you could interchange the wings that would be nice to up grade the wheel size. The 30cc has a larger opening.

Thats good Dave.  Availability of replacements is a big part of a purchasing decision.  Thats why I use you guys and not ones like HK who take months to get a plane specific part.

DLE 35 is on the way. Will post some install pics. I believe i might be under 16 pounds depending on the weight i need for balance. This plane is going to be a floater.

35 is almost in. Finishing the choke and throttle linkage. Fits completely inside the cowl.

Did you have to remove any structure? Did you use the stock standoffs and did you need any spacers?

Lifer i used the stock standoffs and sanded the ends of them to make them a hair shorter to get the gap with the spinner where i wanted it. I did remove the blind nuts as one standoff was right over the edge of it. As for removing material no i was able to sand one of the standoffs base that went up against the wall built into engine compartment. It is a tight fit but all the linkages went in pretty easy. The only thing i am wondering is wither or not the ignition will be fine mounted above the engine.

skillet92, What spinner are you using? When I mounted my DLE 35, I needed to add spacers as the spinner backplate has a reccessed flange requiring the engine hub to be mounted further forward than when using a flat spinner backplate. I am using a Zinger 5" P-51 spinner. I think the stock spinner is just too thin of stock for anything other than for static display. I just found this thread. It looks like my choice of the 35 is going to be a good one. I am in the process of mounting the optical kill and the I will start the balancing job so I can position the batteries.

skillet92 I see you have a Funtana X100 in the background of your photos. What engine are you flying in it? I just converted mine to a DLE 20 and removed an OS 120 4 stroke.

I really like this gasser stuff. I only have 2 glow engines left.

Alan i have the true turn spinner so the engine sits all the way back. I saw the h9 spinner and thought the samething. To thin and flimsy. I have to finish the retract install before i can balance mine. I am using sierras that i had converted for an esm mustang. I just added some robart struts to make them taller. The only issue is the mounting area for them is smaller so i am having to adjust the retract mounts.

And yes that is the 100x and it does have a dle20 in it but it is not mine anymore. My wife bought me the 125 when i got home from afganistan last fall and i moved all my gear over to it. Same setup. Dle20 and hitec 645s all around. Great flying plane. I gave the 100x to fellow club member. He is just "letting" me install all his gear in it. Lol I love the plane. The 125 is just as good. With the 20 both are unlimited. And just sip fuel.
