I tried both modes..anyways here's part of the email I sent Robart..I have a problem with my FW190 electric retracts. At first they seemed to function normally. That lasted for about 5 cycles. Then one would function and the other would not.At this time the right main does not function no matter which out put you use .the electric motor will turn one revolution and then stop.you flick the switch and it turns one revolution the other way then stops. Also the retract output #1 on the control unit does not function.Outputs# 2 and #3 work ok.I do not have an electric tail wheel retract,I am using an A123 6.6 volt battery.I hooked everything up according to the instructions, and did not reverse any polarities. The left main functions normally.....I went on to tell them that i haven't flow'n the plane yet etc...

FWIW, I have the electrics (mains) and have had no issues after many many cycles! I use a separate 2S 1600 Lipo pack for the retracts. I did not do anything special, simply followed the instructions.
DLE 55, DX18, foam wheels which will be replaced by Williams Bros 14500, planning on adding the electric starter as well.

Man these electric Robarts are giving me fits, they work ok when testing out of the plane with an R6014FS Futaba receiver, but when I install it in the same type of receiver in the plane it acts up.One gear will retract and the other wont or one starts and then stops while the other retracts.I'm not using the electric tail wheel retract.I'm using a seperate A123 2100 Life battery..I'll figure it out someday....

Tony, after I did that little fix then a small screw pin snapped on a hard landing. Now my plane has been grounded for over 3 months now while I try to get the replacement part from the supplier, of course these are ESM retracts, I don't know how Robart's response to theirs is. Hopefully good if he is making these himself as opposed to sourcing out from "over there". From what I have gone thru I wish I had purchased air retracts.
I have used air for like ever. My electrics are awesome when the work.

Started working on some panel line and rivet detail. Not sure how you guys do it, but a friend of mine showed me awhile back a great way to get decent looking rivets in film covering.
First thing is to give the surface two lights coats of flat clear. I use a regular old #2 mechanical pencil for the panel lines. The flat clear allows the pencil to get a good line to show up.
Since this is an arf, I'm not going overboard making sure everything is exact scale, just dressing it up a bit. I found a diagram showing an overview of panel lines, so please no rivet or scale police need to let me know it's not exact scale.
After the lines are layer down, I use a rivet tool I make up out of scrap tubing, solderded together and installed in a trim iron.
Then I just go to town pressing the iron into the film ( I use vice grips as an extra handle). The clear coat also gives some extra depth go the rivet.
Results are pretty good and really help add some extra depth to the look of the plane.

And so is model building.
Love to see rivet detail. Pain in the butt to do - lovely to see

Dude - if that's a reference back to me... I don't really give a rats arse either way. I'm not a 'scale Nazi' - my convo re earlier remarks is aimed at exactly that. "scale freaks" - who will say "that tail wheel is 2mm too long"... or ... "that wing is 5mm too wide". Like, what the hell? No two planes were ever made the same in WWII. They made do with what they had.

Mpizpilot like I said earlier I think what you have done is awesome.
Bj64.....
I totally agree nobody buys a topflite to be a shelf queen, I love to see people adding rivets and weathering, i know it's given me the confidence to have a go myself.
I would have loved to have seen an old battered fw-190 with scavenged parts on it .
I am following the road with least resistance, I will have a go at adding the odd bit, but there is no way I want to spend lots of cash and lots of hours just for it to fall out of the sky looking scale.

took my tf gs fw190 to Arizona for the OEAF (one eighth air force) Fun Fly... what a great event... Hemple with that gigantic DR1... a few guys with very nice turbine jets (I think the one I liked most was the Eurofigher). Over 50 pilots... birds of all sizes and shapes...
Flew great on Thursday afternoon... Flew great on Friday, killed my wing on Saturday, went home on Sunday... 2nd flight on Saturday.. awesome take off roll (love that gyro)... I couldn't get the gear up... so I putted around and waited to get an okay to land... on the downwind leg another big folke wulfe went in on the east end of the field but I stay focused right up until I saw one of the wheels fall off the plane during my turn into the landing... since I couldn't get the gear up... and I was panicking... I went to land really slow in the dirt (that's what you do when the gear wont come down - doh!)... the second the strut touched the dirt it pull that wing right off the plane... a little damage to the cowl... gotta get the old wing in flying shape... wish me luck

okay... you know that thing you do before you fly... what's it called... oh yeah... THE CHECKLIST>>> I didn't do it on Saturday morning (even though I flew a bunch on Thursday and Friday)... The set screw wasn't tight... It's what I get for making the assumption and you know what they say... you make an assumption and it makes an ass out you and umption!

I did one flight yesterday, and now both wheels refused to retract .They hit the forward edge of the wheel well.
Perhaps a good idea is to drill bigger holes for the bolts, then rotate them a bit, and mount some kind of stopper, so they cannot rotate back....
