The standard weight on a Vailly is 17.5 kg. It flys very well on that weight, actually. Its a warbird, not a 3 D tupperware plane.

hehe.

The damages are light after a small mistake during landing. My fault.

I am planning to repair it, and put in a Saito FG-84 in it, instead of the Zenoah GT-80.

Is that still Monokote? I see that you painted the gray areas on the wing horizontal stabilizer & fuse W/the darker hue. I want to do likewise but I want to retain the Monokote for now.

Hot Rod, I noticed all your good work earlier. It made me jealous. I took the path of least resistance on this build. Pretty straight forward out of the box. So I tried to make the spots work out. And yes you will see me in Owatonna and please remember to be nice....... because I'm the Cook.

I'd like to make mine a bit 'unique' too - but I quite like the full "Butcher Bird" emblem that's already on it and would like to keep it on the airframe.

I'd like to add a little of that cool green some of them had on them. Or a bit of a 'desert' colouration to it - but I don't think the FW190's did Afrika. That was only Me 109's yah?

Looks like I have a heap of browsing to do through Tele's links...

You can model anything up to & including an A4 W/O extending the nose. There are lots of Eagle Head schemes including this one.

That is the graphics sheet from CALLIE GRAPHICS.

I would even say that you could use A-5 and A-6 schemes. The slightly longer nose is not that big a factor for a plane of this scale level. The A-8 gets to be a bit tougher unless you modify the gun hood, an obvious difference.

Yes, I retained all of the stock MonoKote. On one plane I removed the Eagles (Hackle scheme), on the other I used a scheme that retained most of them. If you want to see more about the detailing technicques I used, go to the Best Pilots site. http://bestpilots.typepad.com/my_web...fw190-arf.html

I'm doing the A5 version because of the need to lengthen the nose for the modified FA512R3D CDI radial I'm using. (as soon as my oil furnace stops bankrupting me)

It shouldn't need any ballast in the nose that can't be accomplished W/battery packs & I hope to remove the steel plates.

I now have that site saved to favorites.

I must say that the darker gray on the wings, horizontal stab & fuselege really makes s big difference. Did you ues latex paint?

I'm not sure that latex would stick to the MonoKote. I used Testors Enamel. You can clearcoat with Polyurethane or Testors Lusterless Clear (Dullcoat).

Who still uses an "oil furnace" in this day and age?

No wonder you're going bankrupt...

It's very common here. We have no natural gas availible on my road. I'm going to wood heat next year & save the oil for backup. I have 74 acres, about 1/2 of that is wooded.

It ain't the end of the Earth, but you can see it from here.

Here are a few of the critters tha once roamed my property.

2004, 4 1/2 years old, weighed 219# field dressed. (99.5 kilo)

2005, 3 1/2 years old weighed 168# field dressed. (76.4 kilo)

2009, 3 1/2 years old 142# field dressed, (64.5 kilo, very run down from rut activity)

This picture was taken in my back yard. That is the St Regis River in the background. It is about 60 meters from my kitchen door.

Hmmm.... Venison to spare. Yum!

Fish in the river too, I guess?.

I wouldn't say you're near the 'end of the earth' - more like 'close to Heaven'

Lovely place you got there, mate.

I ran a small time shooting preserve for a while to keep my Brittany happy.

This 2nd picture is directly across the road from the house. the property goes about 1 km back from this point & is about .5 km wide.

OK, thread hijack over, back to Wurgers.

Jeti DS16...... You will be amazed at all things you will be able to do, a little pricey but well worth the investment.

Not one of the 2 radios you listed but a good compromise between the 8 and the 14 is the Futaba 10C which is what I use; I had a 9c for years never a problem did everything I needed, when it came time to convert to 2.4, figured it was time for a new Radio so I went with the 10C, every bit as good as the 9c and a few extras.

Man these electric Robarts are giving me fits, they work ok when testing out of the plane with an R6014FS Futaba receiver, but when I install it in the same type of receiver in the plane it acts up.One gear will retract and the other wont or one starts and then stops while the other retracts.I'm not using the electric tail wheel retract.I'm using a seperate A123 2100 Life battery..I'll figure it out someday....

I went round and and round with ESM electric retracts and even tried the Lado retrofits. Never had any luck. I figured that wouldn't be the case with robart electrics so I gave them a try. No luck, I've got one that works and another that sounds like the motor is missing. No more electric retracts for me. I'll just stick with quality air units like sierra, CJM etc.

STEPH69; I think either model will work, the ones I have are the 12200 and mounted them on the retracts and no problem extending and retracting, wheels fit perfect, they don't bind or hang up the gear in the wells because the wheels are too big, etc; and Ram used the 14500 and I don't think he has any problem. I went with the 12200 because I didn't like the conical profile of the tires.

Thanks Dasintex. 12200 it is for me then.

I am very happy with the Futaba 10C ; Same menu system as the 9C and 8 UAP.

And Robart Air for me. No problems whatsoever.

All in all the most successfull ARF for me so far. Only problem is one of the wheels insists on stopping against the forward edge of the wheel whell. 12200 might fix it.
