That landing gear is pretty impressive.

Mitch dont say so. What you are performing here is first class modelism, nothing else.
I met my pal Mario ( the one who is doing the fibreglass work in our 3-guys Bearcat-Team) ) last weekend and he handed me the first set of wings.
Sorry to say they did not come out as he thought. Some minor faults ruined his day, and he asked me not to show or even fly them.
My comment: he stressed the first wing (port side) with 120 kg of weight trying to break it. The nasty wing didnt, but Mario ran out of suiting weights :-) Was so good to see his face then :-)
Things are not as bad as he said, but he is a really bad perfectionist and accepts no second class parts.
He is working on a new "perfect" mould and promised perfect wings next spring.
I have plenty of work with my engines and the FW190D9 to carry them around, so I dont mind waiting.
Will post a sneak picture as soon as I have test- installed the first gear in the new wing. Just in case we want to improve some details, now is the time to find out

"Three Guys Bearcat Team" HA HA HA HA! You're cracking me up, Detlef!
If I didn't already have a million years invested in my current bearcat I would beg you for a set of these wings and a set of your gear. My gear are a just an end to a means - yours are art.
And speaking of art, I'm not quite halfway through your Phoenix V4 engine build forum (available here: https://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum...40&PN=1&TPN=40 . Not exactly sure what to say about it that you haven't already heard many times besides BRAVO! You actually lived my dream of designing and building a V4 engine for any Rolls Royce Merlin-engined scale aircraft. And now I don't have to because you taught me that it would probably drive me crazy HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! But as anybody who has invested that kind of energy, money and time into a project has learned: with enormous effort comes enormous PAIN and JOY (probably leaning more to the PAIN side).
And just to get this thread back on track, my latest "progress?" on the Bear:
Kimo polisher, 3m “Pefect it” compound system numbers 1, 2 and 3. I will wind up with a mirror shine. In about a year ha ha ha

Wow, I just checked in on this old project and saw Detlef’s post!
I’m fine and dandy but as you may have guessed, I’ve been busy on other projects. I’m building a J W Bucker to put the Moki 300 in to break it in. Look here:

I WILL be back to the Rear Bear before too long (now that I’m retired).

Good to hear you are fine.
AND:
congratulation on your retirement!!!
That means from now on you will have no time for anything anymore :-)

Well, Detlef, you were correct about being busy! Makes me wonder how I got by while working 8 hours a day. . .
The good news is, I have lots of shop time. The Bücker will be done sooooon and I'll be getting back to the 'Bear asap. I'm not sure I'll be putting the Moki 300 back in it - for 2 reasons: 1) I like the valve covers on the Valach. The Moki is so buried in the Bear that pulling the cowl to oil the Moki valves doesn't sound like fun. And 2) I was younger when I bought the 300. I'm older now and don't feel the "need for speed' that I once had!
On another Bear note: Long story short, I wasn't satisfied with the way polishing (as opposed to clear coating) the Bear was working out. So when I get back to work on it that is the first thing that I will do. After that it's really just a matter of assembly. . . . and getting the retracts sorted out :-)

I look forward to young flying that. I built a couple ziroli clipped wing Rare Bears many years ago. One was more detailed than the other. I practiced with the simple version. I built articulating retracts for the nicer one but the design was a lot more simple. Here is an old video:

[QUOTE=gow589;12750941]I did have trouble with the large spinners flying off. This is the aftermath of one event with the simple Bearcat. The engine actually ran at low rpm on half a propeller and gave me enough thrust to get it back around:
Man that was luck (!!)

Ever thought of playing in the lottery??
Regaring your luck, some millions are safe to be won :-)
PS: just started my Bearcat II with the scale retract gear

Next month I should be starting painting it, depending on weather conditions
last finishing touches- the cockpit area

The new wing is here, picked it up last weekend
Of course, first thing was to check how the gear fits.
We did a lot of work for ensuring that there will be no problems, but a practical test is a practical test.
to be honest- it couldnt fit much better
Next is to machine the long stroke pneumatic cylinder
Oh yes, I have got something for you to show:

[QUOTE=Detlef Kunkel;12767629]Became very quiet here.
Seems all Bearcat Fans are flying Super Cups now..[QUOTE]
Detlef, I just got caught up with your progress. FANTASTIC! Your gear is nothing less than a work of art. I wound up selling my Bucker project so I'm veeeery excited to get back to the 'Bear.
I had to scrap the plan to not clear coat the fades on this complicated paint scheme. The fades turned out to be "dusty" and wouldn't polish right. So I'm going to clear coat after all. Shouldn't take long at all and I'll be in final assembly.
It's only been about 10 years!!!

Yes very nice. Professional video and machining.
pretty different approach about implementation into the wing though. seems to use a massive attatchment base plate

Well, yesterday was a big day on my 'Bear progress. I did the last of the painting: I clear coated the cowl and fuselage. I decided that I was satisfied with the wings and horizontal stabs just polished and not clear coated so the airplane is now basically done. I used Klass Kote throughout (I love the stuff) however parts of this final clear coat did turn out a little "orange peely" so I will be lightly wet sanding and polishing but that won't take a day and then it's FINALLY time to assemble. WooooHooooo!
