Thanks to everyone on this stream for all their thoughts and suggestions. Weather here in Chicago is improving so hopefully I will have it in the air in the next few weeks.

I also used a custom weathering technique that utilizes a wash consisting of European dust, engine soot and fuel stains all from Vallejo products. Really easy to use and I believe produces a believable model. Automotive final flat clear.

Default UMS 180 5 cyl

I’ve switched from the 125 to the 180....there’s plenty of room and it’ll swing an appropriate three blade prop

+1 I am going with the 180 too. Also I have to have the three blade look and performance.

My FW190 weight 17 kg with new paint, and Saito FG90R3 radial engine. It works fine, but i would say that the 90 radial engine is the minimum to have in this model. I consider to install a Moki 180 i have in it to get that extra power which is nice to have. Would also be a perfect ballance CG with that one.

Yes. And will take care of any additional weight that would need to be added.

n8622t and AV8ATOR have either gotten your UMS 180 radial and installed it in the FW.
I got a 1/5 scale hellcat I'm looking to use the 9-115 from UMS but I haven't seen anything online or in the forum of guys using this engine yet and the up keep required for these engines.

PERFECT, looks like Jimmy and I made the right choice going with the UMS 180. Will fly scale with a three blade prop with plenty authority. And that sound is just awesome. Thank you affas for the video...

Awesome! I was led to believe that the 180 wouldn’t fit.

The weight is approx 17,5-17,8 fully loaded. Flying very well with that weight. CG now according to manual. First flight was a bit tail heavy but still good to fly.

Cooling: I did made an opening in the bottom of the cowling and also did bend it out gluing some wood pieces to get even more air out. The side exhaust openings are together with my own design fan really good. I never had more than 110 degree celsius (230F) after flight. The engine will be moved forward by 7-8 mm to get the propeller and fan at the correrct place and then I will print a new fan with bigger diameter to fit more exact.

New 3D printed exhaust stacks are also ready to be glued in :-)

Propeller is a Ramoser 3 blade hub with scale VDM blades in 26,9" and a adjusted rpm on ground to 4500.
These are reliable, cheap blades and great service from Christian. varioPROP

thanks affas 😃. I’ll make a note on your cg in my manual along with the cooling. The exhaust stacks are really nice and still let the air out. Good job man👍👍

Exhaust stacks will be available as STL files as soon as they tuned to a nice fit!
