Stuff!
PM the Ziroli F4U.
Finished installing the new 'air lines' in the wing.
Never seen an 'air router' like this one.
Glad I tested all moving surfaces after the 'belly landing'; one broken flap hinge.
Able to route out the brass tubes that hold the Robart hinge.
All better.
One of the cowl mounts nuts came loose, again, so I used a 'blind nut' and JB weld.
Replaced the CF prop with a Xoar prop. Now getting 6,400 RPM's. Much better than the CF prop of 7,100 RPM's.
Bought these CF props 'online'.
The wood has more mass.
Plus more pitch along the length of the prop.
Ready for the next flight.
Used the old B-25 wing bags for the corsair.
Two cowl mounts rebuilt on the TF P-47 ARF.
Trailer shelf fixed.
One of the plane storage stands needed repair. Dremel used to cut elbow into 3 parts, some heat and pliers removed the damaged elbow.

Club meeting night at one of my local clubs.
Got a couple flights on my 13 year old Ziroli SBD.
Very cool.
It appeared that landing can be challenging: might be easier to just land in the grass with the gear 'up'.
Comes in a nice 'carrying case'.
Once a year auction where members bring 'stuff' they no longer 'want' and all proceeds go to a local charity.
'Chopper' flying area.
Club meeting.
Earlier in the day I went to my other club, took 2 planes but flew none!
Servo mount loose in the Ziroli F4U.
Flap servo twitch in the TF P-47. While replacing the servo, noticed the gear mount was loose.

More 'local field' flying.
Flew the Ziroli F4U after epoxying the air valve mount.
Had to reduce the aileron 'throws' on the TF P-47 as they were too 'sensitive'.
Puzzle question: I took off 2 times but landing 3 times. How did I do that?
Did some PM at home.
Tried to charge the 2nd of 2 batteries in the F4U when the servos starting moving due to the batteries being on to the receiver.
Figured the 'soft' switch was bad but nada. Couldn't re-bind it either.
Finally, replaced the receiver and, after binding, all's 'good'.
First time I've had a receiver go 'bad' especially 200 dollar ones!
Glad it happened on the 'ground'!

Full size plane ride in a North American Navion made in 1947.
My daughter and I had a good time viewing the South Western part of Ohio.
The plane if one year younger than myself but it looks like it's only about 5 years old.

Both dowels came out on the Ziroli F4U that secures the front of the wing to the fuse.
Fortunately, the 'lift' kept the wing snug to the fuse so no damage.
Weird how that would happen since all the force is 'vertical'!
I purchased this plane last Fall and it appears to be very old.
Two new dowels installed.
Lost the access hatch to the TF P-47 so a new one will have to be made.
Hard to find an airplane in the corn, 'let alone' a hatch!

'home sweet home' for the w/e. Newly acquired Ziroli F4U from Darrell.
Forgot the belly pan and wing bolts so the P-47 was for 'display' purposes, only!
Our WW II warbird 'gaggle'.

Top Flite P-47 building a new hatch.
I couldn't find if I did an 'assembly' thread on this plane so I'm 'sticking' this post in my 'road trips'.
After about 5 years, the hatch fell in a corn field so 'no use trying to find it'!
From paper templates to lite ply.
The first and last former was traced via the 'fuse'.
The center ones were enlarged by an 1/8" along the bottom using the previous former: figured that would get me in the 'ball park' for correct sizes.
Rough edges smoothed 'out'.
Used hardwood for the center stinger.
The bottoms of each former needed some 'trimming' to have all of them the same height in the center.
Formers taped to the fuse so they don't move while I trace the stringers onto each former.
Used balsa for the other stringers.
'Seran wrap' used to keep the epoxy from the fuse.
Some masking tape used to insure all formers and stringers are aligned.
Let that 'cook' overnight and finish up, hopefully, tomorrow morning.

Where the screw is attached I removed the old 'lite ply' and epoxied some 'aircraft' ply' and tapped it for a 6X32 screw.
Sheeting the hatch using epoxy.
CA'ed the tapped hole.
Some tape to remove the 'backing'.
'Iron' to apply the monokote from the 'center out'.
I hate monokote on warbirds but this is my 'beater'.
Sides trimmed before final 'ironing'.
Finally!

Not many 'flyins' to attend. The Muncie one has been cancelled due to the field getting damaged.
Last large event is Rosewood, Indiana in September.
Just been flying at the local field a couple times a week.
TF P-47 PM.
Had to replace the muffler as the old one's exhaust pipes broke off.
New one (black) is almost identical to the old muffler.
First time I've had this happen!
Lucky that I didn't loose this plane as the wing mount broke loose from the fuse.
The plane was flying like it lost 'transmission' to the receiver when on full throttle.
Put gear down and flaps and, after 'touch down', the wing fell off.
Lots of epoxy should fix it!
The cowl hit the ground and broke 3 of the cowl mounts so they, also, were epoxied.
Figure I'd get this TP F4U ready to fly.

G-62 (electronic).

PM the TF F4U Corsair.
Engine would only 'sputter' when I added fuel to the carb.
Took cowl off and found that I crushed the fuel line with the cowl mount.
All fixed.
Runs much better with fuel! (6.400 RPM's)
Used some button head screws to, mechanically, secure the bottom of each side of the cowl that was separating from the cowl former, plus epoxy.
All ready to maiden.
Corn is a 'little' high at the field. Top of my hand is 8'.
Fixed the TF P-47 wing mount but, now, it appears some ignition interference as the plane's flaps move when at full throttle; more PM.

TF F4U PM (Cont).
Charged the batteries and adjusted, mechanically, the ailerons and flaps.
Has been flown by the previous owner a few times but will 'range check' it and maiden it, hopefully, on Saturday.
The previous owner did a nice job assembling the plane.

The previous time I flew this plane it was erratic due to the wing mount coming loose.
The last time the same erratic behavior occurred.
Range checking, the flaps were 'moving' at full throttle.
I've got about 200 flights on this plane before these recent problems.
My fellow pilots think the ignition is causing the problem so I put a hose clamp on the spark plug.
The throttle stick also needed adjusting as the 'full' throttle was occurring at the lower end of the curve.
A couple more cowl mounts were broken so some 1/4" thick ply was used for 're-enforcement'.
New muffler was loose so Locktite used.
Pulled and re-inserted all the wire connectors to the ailerons and flaps plus put some more 'donuts' (RF reducers) on the connecting wires.
Not at 'range check' distance at home but all moving surfaces didn't move at full throttle.
