RE: Rare Warbirds, what would you like to see?
I've followed this thread for several days now, and I'm getting the impression that at least some of you never get beyond looking at the Top Flite catalog to see what's available out there. Here is (only a partial) list of your requests and where to find them:
SB2C Helldiver: Jerry Bates plans: 80" and 100" versions
D520: Jerry Bates plans: 67" and 89" versions
He-100: myunclewillies: 76" (1/5 scale)
Yak 3: Jerry Bates plans: 68" and 90" versions
Mig 3: Roman Research 1/4 scale
Typhoon and Tempest: 1/7 from Bob Holman plans; 1/6 from Sepp Uberlacher 1/5 from Vailly Aviation
Brewster Buffalo: Jerry Bates plans: 4 scales from 1/10 thru 1/4
Wildcat: 1/5 scale from Jerry Bates plans; Fiberglass fuse, cowl from Spychalla aircraft
Westland Whirlwind: 1/5 scale under development from Vanguard Vancouver. expect to be on market next year.
Ok so you might have to go to the trouble of ordering the plans from one source, a kit cut from another, and perhaps the cowl from yet another. SO WHAT! YOU WANT AN ARF? GO BUY AN ARF. YOU WANT SCALE you just might have to do a little work to get it.
p.s. here is my 1/5 He-100 currently undergoing rebuild.

RE: Rare Warbirds, what would you like to see?
Its kind of an open ended question. I just listed what I would like to see. I know plans are available for everything I would like to see. Still I would love to get down to Florida and see Mike Selby's Brewster Buffalo. I will build one but it will not be the quality of Mike's. Or Dave Platt's Kingfisher. It looks great in the videos.
VTH in Germany is another source of plans. FW-189 and Arado 196 and HE-162 just to mention a couple. I wish they had an english site. Bob Holman used to carry their plans.
SPPS has the Kingfisher plans and MAN has the Macchi plans. Still you don't see them at the field
I would love to see a kit of the Grumman F3F-2. Or plans gear cowl and canopy made by who ever.
Some interesting birds are showing up.

Here`s a shot from a club display here a short time ago. That`s an ME-35 coming together. You don`t see too many of them around? It mightn`t be a warbird, but you get an idea what developed from it later. This one has a Seidel radial on the front.

Here's a rare one......... Also a pretty neat site if anyone has got the time.

I don't think it's out there, but I'd like it in my hanger.

For that one, and a few others mentioned so far, check Vanguard Vancouver kits http://www.vanvan.us/
Maybe an IL2-M3 in 1/6 scale would be nice.

Thanks P-51B! That one looks like a build when I get a little older and more patient. I am spoiles and too used to arfs. Good find though.........
And yes, a IL2-M3 would be nice.

RE: Rare Warbirds, what would you like to see?
If you go the Vanguard Vancouver (designer Vance Mosher) web site, you will find an excellent kit for the He-111. He also has a Me-410 kit coming out soon. You can find them at:
http://www.vanvan.us
The Me410 is not on his site yet, but I happen to know it is well along in the CAD and design phases, and he will discuss it with you.

RE: Rare Warbirds, what would you like to see?
Vance likes to build them around 90"...I was pushing for a 5th scale, which if memory serves me, would be around 100" +/-. (Can't remember the wingspan off the top) At this point nothing is set in stone.

Here are a couple. the North American AJ Savage, the US Navy's first carrier based nuclear bomber-never seen a model or plans nothing. and the Martin P5M Marlin patrol flying boat, used by the US Navy for 20 years. again, never have seen a model or plans.
