RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
bottom of wing completed. Just need to apply a little primer here and there on the top out near the tips and fix a little hanger rash and I'll be onto those rivets. Top should go faster as it is not as fiddly as the bottom.
Had fun killing black ant nests that had decided to use all my rolled up plans for a nesting ground. grrrrrrr
Will have to go out and get some ant baits tomrrow to really zap the bloody things. [>:]

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
spent about 5 hours today on the 47 working on the top of the wing. Found several bit of hanger rash which I have fixed up and need to squirt some primer of those areas.
Managed to get all the druz fasteners done around the ammo / gun bays completed on the starboard wing and have marked out the port ready to burn those in tomorrow.
Then the marking out and laying down of all the rivets [&o]
Pics tomorrow to keep Bob and Tom happy

just for Tom and Bob, some pics!
all the druz fastners around the gun / ammo bays are completed. Have squirted the primer where I fixed up the hanger rash and will re-score those panel lines tomorrow once the primer is hard.
Then to lay out riverts arrgghhhh [:@]

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
Did not work on the 47 today as had by little bloke over he kept me going most of the day then squeezed in some time to do maintence on the P51 and Seafury.
Completed the work on the P51 but still going on the Seafury. Had to fix up the cowl mounts and got that done but also had to repait the tail wheel retract as the tiller arm had loosened. On removing it I say that the shart was bent from heavy landing a few weeks back.
So fixed all of that but getting the retract back in is a nightmare. Getting it out no too bad. The issue is getting the bolts started in the blind nuts. As the rear fuz is very narrow one can only just squeeze couple of fingers in there so all work is done with a magnet wand, surgical tongs and lots of swearing!! [:@]
Gave up on it in the end as I could not get all the bolts started and the nuts kept falling out. Mongrol of a job. Will tackle it again tomorrow when I'm fresh.
these pics will give you an idea of what I mean.

tel me about it mate! All my throws were off on it, had too much flap on and it blankets the stab/elevator so it was very unstable to land. Fat thumbs twitching did not help either!!
Will reset that.
Finally got a cooler night tonight, nice breeze too. First night in ages won't need the aircon on. My power bill will love that yay!
cheers

RE: TF GS P47 Build - yeah another bloody one!!
glad I dont have to worry about shoveling bloody snow [:@]
Only thing I have to do is zap the weeds in my pavers with roundup from time to time, it is a farm strength herbicide. Oh and sweep the pavers too from the flowers and leave from the frangapani tree.
Off to warbirds at my home field tomorrow. Trailer is loaded and hooked on ready to go.

I have not done any real modelling since the move North. No building and only a few flights of my electric foamies on the cricket oval across the road from home. This would be really handy if it wasn't so bloody windy here all the time.
Good news is we have signed a contract to buy a house of our own. It has a shed but it's pretty dodgy. We are getting quotes to fix it up or to pull it down and put a new one up. The plan is to insulate it and air condition it too. So hopefully it won't be too long and I will have a good workshop again. It also has a footy field over the back fence so ther will be a place to play with the foamies there too!!!
Make sure you get us some pic's of the warbird day!
Cheers
Mick

Hello all...
I have a question that for most of you probably is repetitive.
I know there is a post back few years ago hehe, but I think it's a bit easier to ask than try to dig it up again.
I would like to know if possible:
The size of the brass tubing for the rivets and fasteners
How do you make or where do you buy those brass strips with holes for the rivets layout.
Lastly, how many Top Flite trim iron you need to have at hand to make the job go little faster?
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks for all the help....
Fabio
