Nice piccies. How did the ignition 62 work?
I'm thinking of selling my P-47. How much do you guys think I can ask for it?

selling it??? What the heck for?
ignition seems to be working very well, the engine is definitely pulling a lot harder though you can't tell with the tacho, think it has picked it up on the torque curve.

Hello all...
I have a question that for most of you probably is repetitive.
I know there is a post back few years ago hehe, but I think it's a bit easier to ask than try to dig it up again.
I would like to know if possible:
The size of the brass tubing for the rivets and fasteners
How do you make or where do you buy those brass strips with holes for the rivets layout.
Lastly, how many Top Flite trim iron you need to have at hand to make the job go little faster?
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks for all the help....
Fabio

The strips were made on the drill press from 1/16 X 1/4 flat stock. Don't remember the spacing. I'll try to measure it for you tomorrow.
For the rivets you only need one Trim Iron. For the Dzous Fasteners it is best to have two. (1 for the ring and 1 for the slot.)
Sorry we missed your Question the first time.

To get the best ansure PM "Old Tom" tseres but my tips were turned on a lathe, the strips are abour .015 or .020 brass the larger one has 1/8 holes the smaller one I think is 1/16 holes.
Ithink you could get by with one as you do the large first and all the rest would be the small my strips are 12" long.
If tom can't give all the info I can un pack mine and take measurments
Hope this helps

I have some Ideas for a new one and can't afford to build it until I sell the one I have.
I probably wont sell it anyway. I don't have any luck selling things. I only have luck giving things away.[sm=lol.gif]

With all joking aside: Your P-47 is one of the finest I've seen built. You certainly didn't cut any corners and everything was done top notch. I'm sure it would be hard for you to let go of, but I can only imagine how much a second one would be like.
I've taken a little break on my P-47 (finishing / re-painting a used T.F. P-40 I picked up a while back...re engined it with the DLE 20cc etc.)
I did get a set of 4.5" main wheels for the P-47 and will certainly have no problem fitting them into the wheel bays with doors. I temporarily slid the wings together, in order to check a couple things. At that time I had to do the necessary "mock up" and take a step back portion. For the first time in the build it actually looks like an airplane. Thanks again for your e-mail help

paint-boy. Looks like you are doing a real nice job. [sm=thumbs_up.gif] Should fly great.
Nice try getting me to give you mine. You would have better luck getting me to take mine to Owatona when you finish yours.
Pete. No ned to feel sad. I won't give it way. I guess I can start on another one and take my time. You need company.

It's very hard to sell a plane you put so much sweat and labor into. I have been trying to fix myself so I don't get attached to them Like there are one of my kids. But still it is hard to put a price tag on one as I think only a person who has built one would have any idea of what goes into the build of nice plane.

Thanks guys for the prompt response...
I am still in the early stages of prepping for the build. Got the kit, retracts, razor canopy, cockpit kit.
I am still finishing an ESM 83" Trojan t-28. Almost done with sierra retracts and scale cockpit.
It will join my Top Flite GS P-51 that I have glassed and riveted with Helmers glue. I have to try the iron next looks more realistic.
Hope you guys don't mind if I will pick your brain from time to time when I'll start building mine.
Also Tom, I am also going to Toledo, probably on Sunday. The last day the dealers are more willing to deal since they don't want to bring their merchandise back with them.
Let me know when you go, maybe we can hook up.
Thanks again ...
Fabio

Or you can do like I do and take 7 years to finance a build. The building is the easy part it's all the stuff that goes with one. But then again I have a mental issue where I think I have to put EVERYTHING into this plane. The next one will be a simple build.

Hey Pete,
Don't tell me the new job is already is already causing you rectal discomfort.

At the Toledo show?
If you go there you wouldn't be interested in bringing along your rivets strips so that I can buy them off of you?
