RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
I don't know if pictures during a build are permitted but thought I'd share my progress with you all on my 126" F4U-5N Ziroli blown up Corsair. I have the wing and stab mounted and will be doing the fin next. Here are pictures of it with my personally made cowl and canopy. The canopy has an aluminum 1/32" thick for the frame with rivets. The cowl weighs 5.5 lbs. and is 1/8" thick. I hope to have it flying by next summer for events.

Dear All
I have just watched the youtube video, of the monster plane meet in Florida.
What can you say, this is why we all love this hobby so much, particularly
those lovely warbirds.
The purists might say that they were flying too fast,
what they have to remember is some of those aircraft were capable of 440mph in level flight and more.
Push the throttle to the stops, I say.
Thanks for posting the video and all those wonderful pictures.
Regards Phil G.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Dear All
I am pleased to announce that we will be holding
A Salute to the 445TH Bomb Group,
which will be a Scale/Warbird/Jet meet at Tibenham Airfield on Friday the 17th of June 2011
By kind permission of the Norfolk Gliding Club
Three (smooth) tarmac runways in various directions
There is a charge for the use of the Airfield, so unfortunately I will have to charge entrants a fee
Pilots TBA
Helpers/Guests TBA
A one minute silence will be held at mid-day for the fallen.
Proof of BMFA or LMA insurance will need to be provided on the day.
Food, Drink, Bar and Toilets are available at the club house.
The Tibenham Ball will be held in the Clubhouse in the evening.
If you would like me to look into bringing the fullsize P51D Mustang to Tibenham again I will do that.
There would however be a further charge for the Mustang.
Please post on this thread if interested.
If you could also post some pictures of the models that you intend to bring to the event that would be nice.
I don't normally like to see scale models flown in a none scale manner.
However after seeing the video of Dickie S. and B.C. flying their models
in a very spirited manner at the recent Barkston bash.
I think we can have some slots for that type of flying (this hobby is meant to be fun)
which I will call 'Warbirds unlimited'
Regards Phil G.

I am curious, If a Canuk was to show up with a 60 or larger sized model and wishes to fly at the event, is MAAC (Model Aeronautics Association of Canada) our local governing board & common insurance provider, membership & pilot wings suitable?

probable it will fit in my scedule, but I have a lot of invitations for 2011, all over Europe.
When it fits, I will come to England with my 1/8th B-17 (span 4m= 158") and my 1/6.6th P-61 Black Widow (span 3,10m=122"), both built from own plan.
I will look, if there are some germans who are interested too, but it would be nice if could combine it with another modelevent the weekend before or after.
kind regards,
Jan from the Netherlands

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters
Phil,
thanks. Wanted to know if the MAAC coverage &wings would be accepted in the UK.
Very slim chance of travelling and since Ihave travelled with large bike boxes, Ican try to travel with model broken down. Obviously won't be a monster, but any opp to fly somewhere new is always a thrill.
Spektrum 2.4G radio equipment is all Iuse as an FYI.

I have looked into the insurance etc,
regarding you flying at our event in the Uk.
It is good news, I can get you (or anyone else) temporary 30 day insurance for free.
I would need your details and they would then be submitted to the BMFA.
I have spoken with the BMFA, this is taken from their website.
Overseas visitors
Clubs may also offer temporary BMFA membership to visitors from overseas countries provided they are not involved in display or competition flying. In the interest of international relations no charge will be made for this class of membership which again may be offered for a single period of 30 days. Club Secretaries are asked to advise BMFA HQ by letter or fax of the names of overseas visitors and the period of temporary membership so that our records can be adjusted accordingly.

Phil,
that is execellent news. Ok now that means Ihave to try my best to get the chances upgraded from "slim" to " more than slim" chance of getting there.
This will be a very welcome diversion if it all works out.
Thanx.

A very nice picture of Tibenham airfield from the air.
Tibenham was home to the 445th Bomb Group during World War Two.
They operated Liberators.
