Wow, that tail gunners seat looks way uncomfortable. I guess it goes without saying that job sucked big time!

Sorry it took a bit (busy weekend) but here are some pics of underneath the cockpit. I made a new servo tray for the elevator servo inline with the centre section that I did not cut out. The cockpit floor in 2mm balsa on the 1/4 square balsa rails I glued to the sides on the cockpit. I moved the throttle servo up to the side next to the fuel tank by elongating on of the pre cut lightening holes to fit a Hitec HS-81. As mentioned earlier my receiver sits in the centre box section. Nice work by the way Ty on your moulded abs cockpit. Is it suitable for the B model or just the D. Cheers,
Dave

Has anyone set up their wings to be detachable? If so can you provide any details?

For those that have glued their wings, is epoxy good enough? is there any other glue that is recommended? I heard of some people using what is called Gorilla glue. On;y down side I am told is that it expands.

Thanks Dave,
The cockpit i did is good for the JU-87D. I may get the B and do it as soon as I get time... I have a few more in line first. II have not had my hands on the B model to see if it could work or not...

TD, the slots are big enough. Make sure u lay the servo on it's side with the arm installed and then glue the square mounts onto the hatch...I used 30 minute epoxy on the wings...

Anyone who has built the stabs, did you notch out the stab or the elevator for the u connecter bellcrank wire to sit in? one thing i found, install the cables onto the elevator bellcrank wire BEFORE you glue the stabs in place...

Thanks for the info. I just completed putting the servos in place and bolted the hatches down with extension servo wires done also.

I also put epoxy on the servo wood braces as they tend to crack.

Cool, have you done anything with the stabs first? Make sure u install the cables onto the bellcrank then insert it first before you glue the stabs on..Also my aluminum stab tube is about 1/8 too long. Nothing my dremel didnt take care of though.. What engine you puttin in it?

Waiting on the epoxy to dry...Like I said earlier, make sure u install the elevator control bellcrank in first...

On the tailbraces, does the end with the 1 screw hole go in the stab or in the fuse? The destructions I have show it both ways....I'm not gonna use the supplied ca hinges. I dont trust them so I''m gonna get the flat pinned dubro ones...

If you look at historical pictures, the one screw hole for the brace would go on the stab and the two on the fuselage. Im building the B model and it shows it correctly, but the fuse has a dimple for just the one. Actually for the D model, historical pictures show a solid brace with the wider area at the fuse and the thinner area at the stab.

I am converting mine to electric using an E-Flight 110. Also going to put in an engine sound system.

The aerovate 26 cc ready to go...I used a plane steering arm for the throttle lever. I will mount the ignition battery on top of the 2 top standoffs on a plywood plate.

For those that have glued their wings, is epoxy good enough? is there any other glue that is recommended? I heard of some people using what is called Gorilla glue. On;y down side I am told is that it expands.
Gorilla Glue does expand and is very easy to work with. Moisten the parts with a little water prior to gluing as the water helps expand the wood and aids in the glue penatrating into all the cells of the wood. After your parts are glued together use a damp cloth to wipe off the squeezed out excess glue before it starts to dry otherwise it's more time consumming to remove once dry. I've found that Gorilla Glue works great for installing Robart Hinge Points because it expands and locks in the barbs of the hinge point making for a very secure installation. Different glues for different jobs. Just decide which glue to use depending upon the task at hand. Oh yea,,,Gorilla Glue expands about three times it's size and is very strong. The beauty of Gorilla glue is that it's a one part adhesive and can be used right out of the bottle. No muss no fuss. I hope this helps.
Just remembeer to keep the rubber side down when landing.

td you wouldnt want to use gorilla glue for the wings. It is mainly used on two surfaces you can clamp together, like fuse doublers...I always use 30 minute epoxy on the wings....Hope this helps.....

I agree with Andrew. The lack of clamping ability on the wing sections makes Gorilla glue a poor choice. Epoxy will work fine.

So how many folks are gonna install the "dummy" flaps ? Has anyone flown with them on and then removed then and noticed different flight characteristics?

Are you talking about the dive flaps that are near the leading edge of the wing? I'm putting them on for scale effect. They will undoubtedly cause drag, but I don't think that it will be a lot.

I'm curious about the 2 degree engine thrust offset that's mentioned in the instructions. Is the offset built into the firewall or do I need to create it myself?

Why are the inner flaps being called "Dummy Flaps"? My understanding is that the inner flap is functional when you insert the metal rod between the inner and outer flap. The instructions say to glue the rod in the inner flap hole and leave the inserted rod of the outer flap free to turn within the hole when you operate the flaps. Is this correct?

I think he was talking about the non-functioning dive flaps that are installed on the underside of the wing.

Yep, the ones that glue in twd the leading edge...Knowing the destructions, that 2 degrees is probably wrong too, but I didnt do anything about the thrust line of the engine.

For anyone who wants to add a bomb drop, here are some pictures of some that I picked up at a few different hobby stores. Hobby King and Hobby Lobby are where I saw them available.

I like the dark colored one...does it come with a release too? My stuka came with a bomb and I'm planning on making it releasable when I get around to it...
