I happen to know where there is a rare Full Composite Stuka available at a obscure town in Oregon if anyone is interested. Just PM me for the number and location.

I tried out the quanum bomb system last weekend on a test plane and it worked really well (once). The release system is good but the bomb itself broke into a bunch ofparts even though it landed on dirt.
The bomb has too hard a plastic, so there is no give. I mainly bought it for the release system anyway. Plan on attaching to my Stuka.

OUCH ! ! I have an old vortec release unit. I made a small box out of balsa and mounted a mini servo inside it. Painted it black and glued it to the bottom of the center of the wing. I used the bomb that came with the plane. It worked great.

I have the vortec systems as well. I used them on an old Royal kit Stuka I built. I put them on the wings and they worked great. Unfortunately Vortec is no longer around.
I have som orange bombs that are more flexible and work well. I just need to cut out some slots on the bomb, as the hooks are on the drop system instead of the reverse like the vortecs.

Td, here is my elevator set up..It's a 4-40 rod, ball link on the threaded end and a threaded solder coupler on the other end screwed into a ball link attached to the servo....

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
yup it's a solid metal rod..I didnt put it in a sleeve. I have it running thru the former where the stock plastic sleeve was for the pull pull, just had to drill it out slightly, and I have it thru another former at the tail end that I made out of a thin piece of plywood.

Well, if one of the cables ever broke, how in the heck would you get back there to repair it? Also what they sent, well I hung a 15 pound weight suspended from one end of the cable, had the other end tied to a rafter in my shed, and it popped.....

I see your point on if it broke, however, now that I have already installed the cable, how many pounds do you think the elevator willput on thecable when it is flying?

I used pull-pull but used dubro cable and links. You can get to the assembly installed in the aircraft, but have a spare afternoon and no small children within earshot when you try to get them off/on. It can be done however...Cheers,
Dave

Iroc, the cockpit looks good....So what about the servo section. Did you have to cut it all out and move everything? Love that pilot too....Have you flown it yet?

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
Flew it today with the batteries up front. MUCH BETTER ! ! ! It didn't want to climb and all in all the plane just felt better. I haven't used the flaps yet..I did have to make a deadstick landing but the plane did just fine... I switched to a from a 17-10 to a 18-8 prop and the engine didn't seem to like it very much though.

Good job on the deadstick recovery. So I guess in the end it was a bit tail heavy. Interesting. Sounds like the factory recommended cg might be too far aft.

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
Thanks....Now you know that there is nothing wrong with the specs in the manual.. I didnt try much with the plane, just boring holes in the sky. I did try some high g turns and it did not want to snap out which is good.. Something is going on with my spinner. When I tighten the nose cone down, the back plate warps in one spot..I will see if Tomas sells one for it...

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
I believe Thomas and TBM will be getting spinners for the Stuka soon. However, you can also use a parabolic spinner like a P-51 because most stuks had a spinner pretty close to the same shape. I ordered one from Dave Brown and had it cut for 3 blade 16x10 prop.

Andrew S:
I did get a 4-40 solid and sleeve at the LHS...does have one end threaded, and on the other end, will solder a 4-40 push rod connecter...also will try and put a plywood brace between the two connecting points..(Halfway down the back of the fuse).....right now, will finish the wing..then do, the fuse when I get to that point........

Andrew,
How were you able to drill a hole on the inside brace of the fuselage for the the 4-40 pushrod? Obviously there is no room to get a drill in. What was the secret?

RE: KMP Stuka-build details
I could get a drill inside the fuse to drill the factory forward brace where the plastic tube is for the pull pull and at the back I made another one, drilled it and glued it in place to the rear factory brace...
