Well after being grounded for a year world wide due to prop failure (they lost one of the coast of Spain ) they fly again (huge rebuild) 50 hours will be required before air certificate is issued sorry about the quality of the video it does not do it justest amazing sound and boy does that camouflage work it would be on you before you see it my mate has spent a year working on this aircraft the pilot Frank Pearce owns a p40 and as he said nice gentle flying stall test also where done yesterday yep she drops her right wing in a flash just like our models she also gives no indication of stalling just drops that right wing very nasty looking plane both in the air and on the ground ( LOVE IT ) got a few quick videos of her with my camera hope to drag out the video and get better ones enjoy

Are these restorations or replicas?

Unlike BMW801 original motor>>> which where plagued with problems the Asch82T does not have a coupled flywheel (about twice the engine speed which supplied the unit with fresh air), the so called “Ringkühler†(coolers in circle) German for fan will not work in the Asch cowling. the owner wants to have a perfect and reliable high performance aircraft also flying here are corsair’s mustang’s spitfires a hurricane p40 Catalina and a few other rare old golden oldies the FW will be based here in NZ full time Of the approximately 17,000 aircraft produced, only a handful of planes are in museums displayed. Airworthy original examples of the FW190A8 (flying) do not exist to the best of my knowledge

Hi,
I have had this KMP Focke-Wulf FW 190 (70'' wing span ) sitting in my hobby room for 2 years half finished. I have decided to finish it and hopefully someone can help me out? I don't like the stock tail wheel assembly... is there one that is a more realistic I can purchase that will fit?

to make it steerable I shortened the control arm and used a flexible light weight push-rod coupled with the rudder servo for steering,I also dumped the pull-pull for the rudder and went with a pushrod there as well,I did use the P/P for the elevator though.
I also made a mounting plate and with some trial and error fitting I managed to get it to fit under the fuse cover
here is some pics of the set up I have, I am not 100% in love with it but for now its fine and at least is in a semi-scale position

So my bird is complete minus the retract valve. Besides having to fix the numerous blemishes and overall less then stellar build quality it was not a hard build at all. The wings were perfect though. Mine balanced right at 139mm with both batteries on the firewall and a dle 30. My retracts seem to be quite stout, I've cycled them close to 100 times and left them for over 24 hours and they still held air. Like everyone says, chuck the valve and hoses. Only thing left to do is some light weathering.
On another note, I received the ESM BF-110 for Christmas and the build quality on that one is light years ahead of my FW, I can't find a thing I do not like with that plane. Can't wait to start on it soon.

Mpizpilot,
Glad to hear that the build is complete. It really isn't a hard build like you said. It depends on what kind of "upgrades"you want to add. Post some pics after you are finished weathering and adding details and give us an update whenever you have the chance to maiden. I've heard that the quality for the FW-190 D9 is better also. Not sure why the quality is lower with the A8. I wish they would update it and fix the scale outline errors and quality. The FW is a popular plane if you want to go to the dark side.

No im referring to electric as the dark side any thing Luftwaffe (axis) is the right side lol with twins if you lose one motor 98.99999 % she will dump and go in my one and only allied plane my 104’’Lancaster has had a fair few flights on it and it’s a dark side plane never had a problem but my other twins with glow ended up in the end doing the death spiral after losing a motor [:-] on the news front my FWD9 is slowly coming together I had to do some changes to the sierra retracts to shorten them by 10 mm so not to cut out the area in the middle of the wing where your retract wells come together if any one is thinking of this kit I have made a mould to make a new top gun cover ( it will break like tissue paper) im more than happy to make you one if the need arises 3/16 canopy rails are ordered wings and stab stripped filled and glassed had to split and open the cowl due to fitting the twin and not wanting bubbles over the sparkplug caps so sneaked another 12mm on the circumference over all im happy with the kit but most of it has been trashed and up graded I did receive a set of Glennis wheels 5/14 inch which I can only describe as mouth watering

I ended up getting another one of these to do a sliding canopy option detail. Then I'll paint it to black 8 and hang her up until the spring.

It was very calm which for once was a nice thing Hope yours was well. I've most of the components for this bird but I've little time and as you know, I'm still tinkering with the ME109G.

RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Got ready to mount the G-38 in the FW190 and found out the prop shaft sticks out 7/8 of an inch too far [:@] I looked at every web site that handled Zenoah motors and called to see if anyone made a shorter prop shaft, NOT !!! So I did the next best thing and a friend of mine in our club has a machine shop so I took the motor to him and he is going to make me a new prop shaft 7/8" shorter THIS THING OUTTA HAUL BUTT [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Has anyone else put a G-38 in a FW 190 ???
