RE: KMP / YT FW-190 Build Thread
Per my calculations 3 in is too small and 4.5 in is too big. The correct scale spinner should be around 3.5in (90mm).
Any way, I also bought the SD spinner and will use it. The other alternative is to make a custom one ($$$).

I bought the skyshark D-9 spinner which is just about the right size, its only cut for a 2 blade prop so I also purchased the spinner from ESM it has a little different shape but comes uncut so I will trim that one for a 3 blade prop

If you want to make sure you have spinners for this plane and are ok with 2 blade, Id suggest getting a spare...whether its from Skyshark or one of those from SD since we also dont know how long SD will offer them.

...and the bolt that comes with it is short and do not reach the threads on the engine axis.

Also, has anyone ever checked to see that the cowl on the model is the exact circumference in whatever scale this plane is as compared the the full scale? I'm willing to bet it's a bit off, like my spinner.

I can go to my local hardware store, get a bolt and send it to you if you would like

If anyone is looking for a good retract valve, check this one out. Replace the ESM junk one with this. Left air in the system for 4 days. No leaks and works great. Just have to file the end flat where the clevis connects.

yes, you can insert reducers in the lines, combined with the adjustment on the valves. You can make them come up slow, and go down slow. It's not perfect, but pretty good. I am using the sierras with a robart tank.
8 bucks for 4 of them form robart

All, here are photos of my PTE-36R installation, replacing the DLE-30, for what it's worth. Mounting pattern is practically the same. Bolt pattern for the prop is the same. Gray on the cowl is my repair work enclosing the motor, waiting for paint.

Bill,
Nice house of toys. BTW, do you have any good pics of the release system you set up for the drop mechanism on the drop tank? I have the Ty's ETC501 shroud but I'm trying to figure our a good way to hook it up with a servo and what kind of hook etc. for the tank.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks Bill,
I see the green piece from the Hobby King Part (I have one too). Does the push rod connect to a rocker lever that is attached to the green link? The linkage is what has me stumped.

yes, the servo just connects to a link attached to the green retainer base. It slides back and forth under the wooden plate. The white servo arm part that sticks out and protrudes into the bomb keeps the bomb from sliding when the green retainers are moved by the servo.
hope this helps. I have only used it to release the tank before a flight. I have not flown with it yet, but I hope to this spring.
