I for one, would like to see any personal attacks on each side of this to stop.
it gets no where. each side has his/her own arguments, and thats
fine. it will be always black/white, ford/chevy, republican/democrat
etc. we are grown men, and its getting out of hand and personal.

this thread was started by someone who received an email, that really
didnt appear to have any factually correct info (and again, thats my opinion)

but, for what its worth, alot of you dont agree with our policy, I'm fine with that.
alot of you agree with our policy, I'm fine with that. it becomes a fine line
when dealing with people, all over the world, with different opinions. you cant
please everyone, I wish we could. for what its worth, Peter and Luke that have
posted here I know would still be good contributors to the site based on their
passion for what they do. it shows in what they say here about what they
dont like about RCSB.

we have our set of rules, unfortunaly some of you dont like them, we cant force
you to like them. but I dont like seeing you guys argue about this. its our house
and our house rules. nothing more. it wouldnt be good for us to come to your house
and do things there you dont like. but I see this going no where fast, and non
productive.

I am attaching a link to a video that was sent to me. it reminds me of how these
sites work (insert sarcasm), and why at one point I was called a F'n Nazi ***hole by someone I banned
one year. I hope to interject some humor here, and hope you guys dont continue
to take personal attacks over one another.

Hey Todd,
Looking forward to a little more speed on the site and more great scale stuff LOL. Sometimes we like to beat up on each other for petty reasons. Let's concentrate on the hobby we enjoy especially scale building. You have always treated me fairly and I have done a number of deals with you. I'm with you and consider you a friend.
Thanks,

The web site does have its fast and slow periods. But unlike RC Universe its not funded by positive reviews of crappy products, a huge Buy & Sell site, and a very wealthy backing from its owners. Bandwidth isn't always cheap. And you know what, I would rather wait a few seconds for a web page to load, go on and do something else than listen to a bunch of whiners complain when someone points out that overpriced ARF isn't near as scale as they think it is. I'd rather have some of the TRUE masters of the hobby help me out by posting a simple question. Sure it sometimes happens here if you can filter thru the "Building a Hangar 9 P-51" or other threads of the same ilk. But on RCSB it happens every day.
I do not like ARF's either. I understand their popularity, but I personally do not care for them. i will not begrudge others for using them though. To each his own.

I do however begrudge forum/website mods being rude. No call for it.

I do agree with you though, the other site does have a more dense wealth of useful information. The problem is, I can spend my time here and dig and still find the same info faster.

Personal preference my friend. That's all.

I agree Fred, I didnt take my job over there to make enemies, unfortunalty yes, I have
pissed off a few. I have made more freinds, you included Fred thru the past 5 years at
RCU here, and RCSB. and its really not worth too me, to argue about some of this when
in reality, we all are right.

Tom, yes I agree, that video is my favorite.

And now we see why Pete_OZ was banned from RCSB...

Enough said. Thanks for proving the point.

I think RCSB is one of the best sites on the net. It is a great place for someone like me who is starting to learn the builiding and true scale side of the hobby. I will contribute as long as the site is around but I do agree that the speed of the site can get frustrating sometimes. But even with the slow speed it is still a MUST visit everyday!!!!!!!

I gave them some money and gave the site several thorough perusals. There is some good content, for sure. However, it is more difficult to get at than it should or could be. And yes, IMO, the moderators are wound a little too tightly. Rules are good things to have; I understand their rules and do not disagree with them. But as a casual observer with no dog in this hunt, long before this thread was started I made the observation that the rules may be used to excess, to the point of stifling useful participation.

Speed... where to start? I run servers for a living. I run forums that have far more traffic than RCSB can possibly dream of and they have never been called slow by anyone. Sorry, but for my time, RCBS is painfully, impossibly, slow. Add to that the very short content per page format, and the forum has simply not been useable almost every time I try it. Thirty second page loads might be less onerous if you got fifty posts per page. Limiting the posts per page to eight is being hostile to the reader. I spend more time clicking and waiting than I do reading. Alas, this is due to a combination of design, software, hosting company and environment that in my professional opinion, are all bad choices. Throwing more money at this unfortunate combination is not going to make much of a performance difference.

Voice of reason speaks loud and clear. I would like to know what their hardware/software/Net connection is. There is obviously a tight bottleneck someplace. I personally doubt it has much to do with bandwidth unless they are hosting over Async DSL which I found myself wondering at the time.

And Oz, knock of the personal attacks. That sort of thing only proves one point.....One you did not want to make I am sure.

Its a shame that RCU does not have the insight to purchse RCScalbuilders , operate it as a part of RCU for serious scale builders only . Post would be limited to actual building and real quoestions on the build vs multiple post that are not on subject or simply saying hi to a friend .
Todd is an excellant source of scale rc and general rc info , he has been helpful to me and has never passed judgement on what or why I am building a plane as a kit or arf . I think the RC hobby is a journey , and at differant times in your life your journey will change from building to arfs , to warbirds to sport ect ect .
Its all good as long as you show mutual respect for those in a differant part of the journey then you are in

???????????

I am not going to enter into this RCU v RCSB argument, but from someone not involved isn't the above a personal attack?

Pete has not posted anything here since Todd called for peace at the top of the page, Evil Merlin however has posted yet another attack.

Interesting debate.

I've had nothing but good experiences with RCSB, as well as here. I've had posts deleted from both place. In my opinion, the mods have been reasonable.

When I questioned their reasoning, the mods at both sites have explained themselves to my satisfaction.

I've been an RCSB member from near the beginning. The site has provided me with invaluable information. I've aquired numerous friendships through the site, exchanging emails and Skype conversations, often.

We have a common interest. We should focus on that commonality, not our differences. Personal attacks, and racial slurrs have no place on any forum. Let's avoid them, and concentrate on this wonderful hobby.
