Just an update. I talked to Darrell and he hasn't quite got them finished yet but will have them out this week I hope. Meanwhile my custom exhaust is coming along great. Anyone following this thread I am also selling canopy rails made on a horizontal mill so they are perfect. No more dremel. If interested in a set PM me and I'll give you the details. Here is a picture of a set.

I'm Back,
My main retracts were shipped today and as soon as they get here I'm putting the TF Giant on the back burner and going back to work on my Beast. I have enough work tables to leave the TF Giant on one table and the Don Smith 1/4 scale on one of the bigger tables. It will have to be in my shop in the garage so it will be a little cold but I want to get this thing going again. I'm thinking of buying a gas or propane garage heater so it will be nice and warm for working. After this post I'm going to check out how much they are.
Keep in touch,
Barry

John,
I ordered the heater today and called a contractor to run the gas line and hook her up. It will be nice and warm in there this winter. Plus the wife will always have a nice warm car to get into. She didn't complain about this purchase.

I designed and built a large flight box for my gas Warbirds. It has 8" wheels and a 48" removable handle so I can get to the inside and take the gas can out for filling. I am painting it red, white, and Navy blue to be patriotic. It is 12"widex24'longx10"high on the sides and the ends are 14" high. There is also going to be a tote that I'm bolting to the side with shelf brackets for support. It will hold my radio and cleanings supplies. There is additional space in the tray for small parts. The tote is under the handle. My tools will be in the side dividers and the gas can in one end and the battery in the other. I can also have extra oil in the tote as well. Here are several pic's of how I'm doing so far on the painting. It is soaking it up. I ordered a power panel and battery plus some tygon fuel line for it. I had it all together before I started painting but forgot to take any pictures. I'd be working on the TF giant but I'm waiting for my main retracts for this one and an air cylinder for the TW retract for the TF Giant Corsair.

I'm keeping my nose pressed up against the front window or out the garage door waiting for the UPS man to bring my stuff. I cleared off the large work table enough so I can work on the wing when the mains get here. The table is plenty big at 4'x9'. It used to be a cafateria table that I beefed up. It's still bowed in the middle but for what I'm doing it doesn't matter. The blocks on top are supports for the 65" center section of the wing when it's upside down. I am also going to build my flaps and ailerons while I'm at it on a different smaller table thats flat and level.

I'm back to building and I just finished planking the area in the gull sections front on the left side of the wing's center section. Now I'll continue on and do the back of the wing from the main spar to the back of the ribs. I needed to do this to be able to figure out if the retracts would fit. I also demeled out the area for the strut. I'm sure they will when I get them.

I finally finished the planking on one side of the Center Section. What a pain with all the different curves. I'll have to get it really smooth before it's glassed. That will take some time and effort with evercoat putty.

The UPS man came today and dropped off my heater for the garage shop. It is 30,00 BTU and heats 1000 sq. feet which is a little smaller than my garage but I will be able to close off the area that jogs in towards the back ot the house where I keep my boat and table saw. The contractor is coming Wednesday to run the gas line from the water heater in the basement up to the gas heater. It shouldn't be to expensive with him only running about 15 feet of pipe. I also planked the top of the front of the right side of the Center Section and will finish the top tomorrow. Then I'll have to figure out where to epoxy in the rails for the retracts.
