Yep you are right, the same rebuild as me. That is the trouble with RTF models they never beef up the retract rail, and if yours is like the mustang the rail is attached to a balsa wood spar and not with much clue, I was lucky with one wing as because of the lack of the clue it came strait out cleen but the other one snaped the rail into bits.
But not to grumble it all went back together again and luckely for me I had a roll of silver that I had for another plane.

Sorry to hear that mate. Anyways, I could tell as this has been a common problem with most RTF and ARF's....it happens to all planes...It's called the "P factor"...Like they said, if you don't succeed at first, then try again............and again.........and again.........cheers!

I've seen 2 versions of the BHM P-51D, 1 with a red cowling, and one with the yellow. The nYellow cowl looks newer, but does anyone have any feedback on the performance between these 2 ?

I might be wrong but the newer one with the Yellow cowl is longer on the nose end giving it a more scale look, also again I might be wrong but the rear tail wheel is in the correct position whereas the Red version the tail wheel is positioned back where most ARTF put them.
But as to the performance difference your guess is as good as mine. It would be interesting to know.

By the way did you get your Thunderbolt sorted OK? Much damage or like mine just the lack of glue on the Rail...... As I see you did not go with the stock legs but Robart.

I wanted the version with the yellow nose, but it's evidently no longer available in the US I take it...I was looking for a cheap bash and though others are available, the BHM has flaps and most other cheap knock-off's don't.
The P-47's rails have been reinforced and 1 was rebuilt, but one of my Robart rear mechanisms plastic flanges have broken off, so I sent it back to the factory for repairs...I exdpect she'll be readt to fly in another week or so, when it's RTF again, I'll get some pics.

Here's my BHM P-51D (Bashed)...This is evidently the earlier version with the 1 piece wing and shorter nose and no exhaust stacks.
She's almost ready to go...
Still need to make the exhaust pipes, make door covers, & weather her.

Looks nice I was able to fly mine again today, It was better this time especially now I have beefed up the Retract rails I also put just a little bit more under one side of the retract to bring the wheels forward ,only 2mm under one rail but it did help.

No Falps, I tried to find the thread on the P-36 but to no avail. I see you mentioned about the landing gear being wrong. Can you tell me more on this and any other info you have on this bird. I really like BH Models, I have their T-28 and like it a lot so I picked up the P-36. Looks beautiful right out of the box. Thanks in advance for your help. Gary

Ahhh, Thanks for the update...Too many various posts.
I haven't flown her for some time as I need to rebuild the gear rails, so she hangs awaiting repairs.

Darjen38,
regarding the Cermark Spit, i still have yet to rebuild those gear rails...been busy working and not much building time.
Went to fly the BHM mustang this wkend and my pitts muffler wiggled it's bolts loose, I saw it hanging just before the throttle push for take off roll. (luckily) So not even a flight on her over the wkend,

Few you were the lucky one this weekend then, Not like me I was flying my Ripmax Bossanova with a OS 91 FS up front when I had tail failure resulting in hitting the ground causing £80 damage to my engine (New carb, Engine Backplate & Intake manifold) and it sounds as poor j6myw Mustang went in on the second flight.
But that's the name of the game.[>:]
