My first set took 3 months to get after reading his site and in stock shipped in 7 days or $50.00 off I took another stab at it took 10 days this time. I really like the retracts and hope he gets it sorted out, there seems to be a big market for them I know Im sold mine are very strong and work every time.

I totally and utterly agree with you!

All I can say after my experience is: BUYER BEWARE!!!

Doug happily took my money on the day I ordered the retracts. He sent an email stating that an order number would ensue shortly.

I wait 10 days then email him: nothing.

Three emails and three telephone messages later - I live in the UK - I get the sob-story about machine problems and email issues.

He promises to post them but - guess what? - nothing happens.

More emails and MORE telephone messages: eventually a further response stating that he will post them express delivery within the hour.

Guess what? Nothing!!

I then email/telephone asking about the retracts and the $50 refund (for late posting). NOT A PEEP!!

So finally I issue a deadline after which I will escalate to a pay dispute through Paypal. Doug fails to respond so I duly receive the refund, though Doug then emails as though he has generously decided to reimburse me!!!


Listen guys, I've read many of your emails and I'm on the side of the little guy for sure: it's great to support an entrepreneur with a good product.

What I can't tolerate is the total lack of professionalism and the constant lies - for that is all they are! - instead of a straightforward response that I might have some respect for, such as: "Really sorry about the delay, we're just inundated with orders and can't keep up. Can you bear with us please?".

I hope you're reading this Doug; I wouldn't order a toothbrush from your company in the future and, sadly, you'll almost certainly be put out of business when a well-organized and professional far-Eastern company produces similar product in large quantities.

Good riddance, in view of the huge amount of my time you've wasted.

Just how long do you have to wait before you can ask for a refund without having to feel stupid, whatever the circumstances? Just playing devil's advocate myself as I have no dog in this hunt.

What phone number did you use from the UK? As you can see I too live in the UK (South Wales) and have been dragged into this con from the word go. I have a build on hold and really want to get in touch with Doug to get my money back. Obviously he doesn't answer his email or view this site anymore.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that you're in the same boat, though I was lucky in a sense as I paid with PayPal and was able to get a refund.

When did you send him the money?

Plus... we are ones that should feel "stupid" for allowing Doug to treat us (his supposed customers) this way!

Hey Guys, I only live 25 mins. from Dougs place of buisness, and have been wanting a set of gear for quite sometime now. I think I will drop by and do some research before I spend my money. Well I did not want to said anything bad about this guy, I was still hoping he will come out, and answer all our concerns.
Here is why I feel like an IDIOT!.

Purchase 2 sets of retracts, got them in about 2 weeks, and got the $100 credit on both because they were not deliver at the time
he said he will. So far so good.

Well one was not working, and the second set just started smoking. Email him, he said to send them back, and let him know what
battery, and electronics I was using. Well since everything was going well, I send him the receiver, battery, Y harnes, and switch
I was using to make it ease for him to identify the problem.

Over a month now, and no answer no email, no retracts...............gosh just a call! an email....something!

Those GZ retracts look awesome! I love the way theu are doing the nose gear stearing. I couldnt find any prices though.....

I too paid via paypal and have requested money back off Doug but with no success as of yet.

Those GZ retracts look pretty cool though so maybe I will drop them a email for prices and distribution ect.

Sorry, leave out the "44" - I was half-asleep when I wrote that.

You can use companies such as telediscount.co.uk for cheap calls to the States - I'd avoid BT unless you have a special package that gives you cheap international calls.

Cost me 2p per minute which was very reasonable.

Hope you get your money back ok - judging by all the posts Lado is in deep trouble. I've no time for cowboy outfits like that...

This is my first post to RC Universe. I usually just read and don't do any posting. I must warn fellow RC modelers about the absolute horrendous unprofessional service from Lado Technologies. I have three sets of their retracts. One set is a rotating set in my hangar 9 P-40. So far, out of the three sets, two have broken. I had to make two belly landings with my hangar 9 P-47. I had minimal damage because my plane had a plastic bomb drop on the bottom that the aircraft skidded on pavement. After receiving the replacement for the P-47, the replacement set worked twice and both circuit boards cracked, causing another failure. After a month, Doug sent me a new set. I sent him my rotating retracts from my H-9 P-40 that stopped working. He has had them for over two and a half months. I have not been able to make any contact with the company via e-mail or phone. Approximately two weeks ago, I did get Doug on the phone and he could not even recall receiving the retracts. I had delivery confirmation, so I know he got them four days after I sent them. I filed a mail fraud case with the postal inspectors today. In my 30-plus years of participating in the RC hobby, Lado has been the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with. Doug flat-out lied to me on the phone, as he promised me he would do a search of his shop and call me back immediately if he found my retracts. I think that this company must be in financial distress or they would hire someone to handle customer problems. I'm a retired police detective and this company sounds like the typical Ponzi scheme. The one set of retracts that I have in my Top Flite P-51 have not failed. As you can see, Lado retracts do break down. Therefore, customer service is essential. If the postal inspectors are unable to resolve this problem for me, I will attempt to contact a law enforcement agency in Oroville in an attempt to get my property back. I just want to warn anyone who is contemplating purchasing a Lado retract that the company appears to be nothing but a sham operation. Buyer Beware! I've waited long enough.
