Hey MX240
Yeah she likes to baloon once and while, glad your digging your plane, she looks good in the shots. Used the flaps today for the first time and made everything just right for the landings...thanks for all those tips!
Saito and plane is running great on the 17x8 APC...someone suggested a 16x10...any more thoughts on that and what that would help?
Thinking about getting 1/4 dowel covers already too...I see the marks by it's 8ths flight! Hey does anyone keep a regular log book on all their flights like real pilots and issues etc?

I've posted this link before but here it is again- a link to video of my original H9 P-51 with the MA 16x10 prop and 200Ti. The plane is faster with this prop but has a bit less raw vertical- I preferred it over the APC 17x8. I still don't have any video of the new 'Stang with the DZ, maybe sometime soon.

Yes the dowels wear through fast, I sheathed mine with brass.

Walt...I can not get that to play on my computers for some reason...some kind of buffering issue on a MAC..it jams at 25%buffering, right after your take off...which looks great by ther way?
I'll try that 16x10
Does anyone ever use their flaps for takeoff?

Copy that on the CG. Only thing though, I am flying off a thick grass runway and the drag overwhelmes the momentum. To land and keep it on it's nose, I most generally have to 3 point it. Wished I had pavement!

Yeah to move the CG forward much you have to rake the gear forward a bit, even with struts. But it really does help a whole bunch. I fly off grass too, at least the prop doesn't get destroyed when it does nose over. The video is of my original plane before I worked out all of the quirks. The one I am flying now has the CG moved forward and it is a real baby to land.
I never tried taking the Mustang off with flaps, but I use half flaps on my P-61 if the runway is short and it helps to get it in the air sooner. It has a heavy wing loading and eats up runway on takeoffs and landings. One of the good things about the H9 P-51 is that the wing loading is pretty low for a warbird.

Hi
two more nice flights, flaps work great, everything is running great and rich...then my Saito 180 blew a push rod or something? the left rod system was getting stuck some how and there was no more compression...took the top of as recommend anyhow as in the manual for needed adjustment after breakin, worked fine, then it happened again...a pro at the field said something is busted deeper down inside and that I should send it back under warranty.
I'm not happy about this...very limited time left in the flying season! Anybody else ever have problems such as this and dealt with warranty issues, Horizon I believe for Saito?

I have about ten flights on my P51 with Saito 180 and also have several other saitos but I have never had to send one back. I hear some people say they love Horizon for thier warranty service and heard others scream and yell at how bad they are, so I personnaly don't know. I wouldn't dissasemble the engine any or they won't honor the warranty.

Hey all,
Thanks for all the great info on this thread. I completed a re-finished version two weeks ago. Power is a Moki 2.10 and she rips. Sounds awesome with a 20x8 APC, prop tips are screaming. Covers the field as fast as my Q500 Viper. I cannot say enough about this power combination if you can get your hands on a Moki. She floats almost like a trainer w/ full flaps on landing. This is my new "favorite" plane. Pics to follow.

I looked at the new pics of the 80" Mustang. It appears that the entire aircraft is redesigned. Does anyone know for sure if the fuselage may be the same as the 77"? It looks like the basic same features but maybe the lines changed a little. It looks as if it were being paired up with the P-47. Just thinking about parts. I noticed the manufactured weight increase and the 200TI is no longer the recommended powerplant. Any opinions?

I would think
The new wing is a 1/4 inch longer root cord as the fuse is a 1/4 inch longer?.
You could try using the new wing on the old fuse with a little sanding. The stab half's are probably the same as well as the elevators. The ailerons and flaps are probably a little longer as well on the new one. I do not think the old wing would match up very well with the new fuse with out some real work,,,BUT it's all just a guess [sm=confused.gif]

Lasuen,
If you don't already know, H-9 announced an updated version last week. It is on their website. It is slightly larger, and a different colour scheme.

Hey
I'm loving my 77" H9 P-51 and now building a Ziroli 98" version. Just in case you never saw the original Marie...here she be in all her glory!
I'm sure the 80" will be great too...how are the new retracts?
best,
Matt

Couldn't help but notice that you are putting a 200TI in your plane. Keleo Creations has a set of scale operational stacks for that plane. I have them in mine and I love the sound that comes out of those stacks. One cylinder goes to one stack and the other to the other stack. Check out his website. Keleo Creations.

The Keleo stack style exhaust only works on the Top Flite Model with full glass cowl, but will not fit the hanger 9. The hanger 9 version has only 2 exhaust pipes out the bottom because the upper front fuse is wood in the aera where the exhaust should be. The new 80" version appears to have the same wood upper cowl as the 77" version.

I have the H9 150 P-51 with the Saito 180 - Kelvin at Keleo Creations built the custom exhaust for my installation, the single exhaust split into two feeding scale stacks on each side - sounds really great, but, due to other issues and projects have yet to fly this great warbird - sorry Kelvin but I guess we will have to wait until next spring for the first flight.

Hey spitpilot do you have pics of the exhaust. I asked a while back if they made one for the 180 and the H9 150 P51 and was told no. I would love to have that exhaust for mine. the 180 sounds good with the standard muffler but I bet it would sound great with the stacks. How much did it cost you? if you don't mind telling.
